Keatings is never a lone striker. Think hes a decent player  but not up top on his own.

Good win.

On to Buckie and a chance to really rack-up some goals and get confidence going.

Hopefully.

Any wins a good win.

Wasn't there, no idea how we played, but I do agree that Keatings won't work as a lone striker.

aye not there and by all accounts 1st half was brutal - weather too.  confidence and team getting to know each other.  This dev player came on as well - totally under radar wonder if he might have a part to play this season? we seem to have midfielders competing for positions so hope thats the case

Thomas? Got him fae Southampton.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Just hame fae the gem.

First half wasni great but we're gonna need ti be patient this season we ken teams are gonna come ti tanna and sit in ti play on the break. Eh thought the front 4 still linked up well at times.

Second half was much mare like it, Fraser King and McMullan ah mare involved and you could see they'll be important fir us.
2 centre mids - mehhh , thought Stanton was decent when he come on
Keatings- worked hard enough, his touch and stuff it times didni look great sure he'll get better.
Scobbie- eh thought he was solid enough , doesni really offer much going forward but if we're solid at the back and let the front 4 attack that could work well.

All in all a positive start IMO and we're only gonna get better, the mare they play with each other.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Not into this "front 4" stuff. That's ok when you've got the likes of Andy Robertson at full back bombing on to support, but with Murdoch/Toshney/Scobbie at Full backs who offer nothing going forward, we need more than just the front 4.  Keatings needs a partner up top, then 2 wingers and then Fraser supporting from central midfield, possibly Stanton too.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

First half I thought was horrific slow as fuck and nothing happening very poor

Second half much better and think we deserved the 2-0 in the end.
Impressed with mcmullan.
Early days and things will Improve as this cup goes on over the next couple weeks.

How was the goalie, scobbie, stanton and briels???

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Goalie fucked up first half ball right to faith player left goal wide open durnan got back and got head to it or would have been a goal.
Apart from that he was fine.
Scobbie was fine as was Stanton when came on. Briefs put himself about good effort.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Especially liked the look of McMullan.  Stretches the play with his pace and runs and looks like he has some qualities we've been missing.

Fraser seemed to benefit by having more creative forward thinking players although marked by 3 everytime he came into play as usual.

Thought King needs to be braver.

Keatings should benefit from getting off the mark in his competitive debut.
Deniz the Mehniz got lucky but also did well saving i think wi his forehead.

Allardice looked composed & comfortable.

Looked like maist are still to sharpen up and learn eachothers thinking & style.

Great to see such a clearout and change of squad.

Happy enough wi 2nd half, new attacking options, new players in general and a win to start the season especially for wee man's 1st game.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

1st half
1st 12 minutes we were the better side. TBH some of the football we were playing was better than a lot I saw last Season. After about 12 mins, Raith woke up then the half was 50-50. We had a lucky escape when the Edge passed back to Deniz the menace, who was well off his line and tried to return the ball to Edge, but miskicked, playing it straight to Raith who had a guy coming right down the middle, giving him a sitter - Deniz was miles away from the goal. He walloped it with his 1st touch, which sent it flyin toward it goal. By some miracle Durnan had got back to the goalmouth and headed the shot out off the line for a corner. Hearts in mouths and all that.

2nd half
Thought we were very good the 2nd half. Started very well, some excellent stuff, but then after 57 mins, Raith became our equals. The last 20 minutes we were playing some really good stuff.
1st goal. A great move on the right by King to Fraser then across the box to McMullan, with the right-foot curling shot.
2nd goal. Stanton was only on a minute or twa when he had the ball on the 18 yard line, running from right to left just inside the box, and was tripped, and went flying. Nothing sinister in it, just a simple foul. Keatings took the Pen well.

MOTM. Very close for me  – Billy King by a small margin. Started the move for our 1st goal, but then McMullan never stopped running at their defence. Keatings was excellent also. Think all the new guys had a no bad game really. Briels never had a lot of the ball. N’Koy was only on for a few mins, and was caught offside a few times, tho one of them when the ball was played to him thru the middle, he was on. Deniz never had a lot to do. He made a good save in the 2nd half.

We deserved the win, good start to Season, but take what I say with a pinch oe saat, Pretty p1shed.,

The guy Archie came on in the friendly with Blackpool. He looked a lot better than most of our development players.
