19?

History repeating itself.

Dundee United doing EVERYTHING on the cheap since 2015.

We never learn it would seem.

Yet the daft thing is, as mentioned previously - are we not seeking a fee for Bell?

Did we overestimate our potential to go up last season and give Bell a wage and contract reflecting this? Now we have to get rid?

But we really haven't been doing it on the cheap since 2015 Tek. What about Mixu's highly waged dross, or even Bodul and Arnier and their contracts in Jackie's time?

I'm perplexed by the club's decision making.

I'd expect a massive gulf in quality between this guy and Zwick and assume Soton haven't sent him north to get splinters in his arse.

Big call by Ray tho so hope he's got this right.

Re: Keepers

I don't think it's ideal but it's not fair to compare this situation with Zwick/Szromnik/McCallum.

Zwick was an amateur - zero pedigree. This young lad has played for England at youth levels.

Re: Keepers

Tbh if it means we sign Quinn I'm actually up for giving these boys a go! Quinn would honestly be a outstanding signing

Re: Keepers

According to The Tully, the fee received for Bell would allow RM to complete his summer signing plans

Shocked that it's suggested Killie can offer a fee!

But depending on the amount it may placate me.

Bell, I think, lives down near annanarab. Don't think he'll be missing Glasgow.

He had some howlers and also great moments last season.

I'd welcome a transfer fee.

Bell's an Annan lad with family in the town. Not sure if he still lives there but if he does its a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive to Tannadice.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Keepers

Cammy Bell has probably been a best & most consistant performer, like him all round as a player & person.

If he's asked to leave he should leave and I wish him all the best.

Re: Keepers

I was a bit churlish with my comments earlier.

I am concerned about his young age (for a Goalie) and lack of first team experience.

But all the best to the young man.Hope he does us a turn.

Re: Keepers

It's not and I don't think people are having a go at the new boy far Southampton or deniz it's more the fact we done so glad 2 year ago and it wasn't good going into a season with 3 keepers with very little experience between  them.

Re: Keepers

its not really wise to make predictions either way about the level of ability of keepers i would imagine none of us have seen in action. in saying that they both have to be better than Zwick

I think most folk are saying we knew what we had with Cammy and now have two untried one who has been a number 2 and one who is young and inexperienced.  Cammy had his faults but was a decent keeper.  If we have a got a fee for cammy and one (or both) of these boys turns oot to be the biz - could be a massive risk well realised!  If not and they are the square root of zwick we are in the deep brown stuff (and not just on our sleeves).

Mehmet will have been watched, trialed, interviewed, watched again, trialed again, references taken (Uncle Peter), scrutinised at training....then signed. We would not have looked at the Port Vale forum but if we had the above actions would have been intensified.
Get my drift?

Re: Keepers

Ray's known about Cammy leaving for a good while, had ample time to sort his signings for this year. Hopefully done his homework first....

Re: Keepers

Yeah that's a funny one, must be a reason but can't think what.
Ray's comment was tantamount to saying Bell's not going anywhere.
5 goalies!? Last season we couldn't move for No 10s!

Think Bell is going but we are playing hardball for some money.  GOOD!  if he goes we get some fee but Bell was solid enough.

Signings so far i think look like they can do a job.  Briels will quietly go about his biz by looks of it.

Dont know why but i am optimistic.

Missed saturday but im going to buckie.  having a long weekend up there afterwards - well close by anyway.

Some long weekend if its starting on a wednesday 😂

Re: Keepers

We have a chance of beating a team wearing ***** & ***** *****.
They won the HL last season on goal difference.
Cove Rangers had the same number of points as Buckie (82) but their goal difference despite being a humongous 79 was still 15 less than Buckie!
Buckie were Britain's highest scoring team last season with 164 goals in all comps, 130 of them in the league.
Prediction - Buckie 8 United 17.
