Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Team for tomorrow's opening fixture Gents?

Doubts over Flood i would imagine (hasn't featured in the friendlies at all).

Will Bell play?

Not really giving many fucks about this game. Kicking off the season now is ridiculous, given when it ended.

Another Scottish football farce.

Given all the people who complain about wanting to move to summer football, surely there will be bumper crowds at these games.

am I wrong?

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

I really don't mind this cup format, chances are we would play teams of Raith / Cowdenbeath  calibre in friendlies, friendlies are boring as fuck so might as well have them with an edge.

We should have enough in our locker to beat the first three clubs no matter what side we put out and by the time we face the curling tongs we should be match fit.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

It won't be this, but I'd go something like

                         Lewis
Ballantine.   Durnan.  Edge.   Scobbie
McMullan   Briels.  Fraser.   King
                  Keatings.   N'Koyi

Mehmet, Toshney, Robson, Allardice, Murdoch, M Smith, B Smith

Assuming Floods out and the rest fit.  Not even sure if I've missed anyone.  Reckon Scobbie might have the armband tomorrow.

Mehmet
Toshney Durnan Edge Scobbie
Briels Allardice
McMullan Fraser King
Keatings

Again that's assuming Flood, Bell  & Murdoch are oot

That front 4 excites me tho and no said that in a Lang time, could be good ti watch us again.

If McKinnon doesn't go 4-4-2 after signing two wingers and two forwards I'll be looking for his resignation before I even have my first pint after the game.

On the plus side Beardy it's a fair price £10 & £5 during school hols. Better than a friendly on same date. Good time for fans to get a look at some new players. 1st real chance to be back watching United. Opportunity to help make those new to the club welcome, 1st impressions & all that. Raith will bring a no bad support.
Good time to take bairns and choose a view that's different from usual.

Downside is not on season ticket, folk might be away on hols, some might still be doing stay away protest. Team isn't complete or familiar yet.

Taking wee man to his 1st match the morn. No sure what to expect but here we go eh.

Lewis is going to be first choice keeper.  So Mehmet plays tomorrow i reckon.  N'Koyi wont start.  Bell injured i think.

Dont recall not giving a fuck about a start to the season before.  Still feels like pre season.  Anyway 3 friendlies then lets break some dee bones for a laugh before the real stuff begins.

How do you feel Lewis is 1st choice bud?

McKinnon said N'Koyi is behind the rest with fitness and won't start but should get 30 mins.

Too much commotion

This is an example of why we need at least 1more striker, preferably 2.  It destroyed us last year having no options up top, can't let that happen this time.

He has been brought in as our main keeper I reckon - hasnt trained much yet so will be weeks behind.

He has been on pre-season training with Southampton in Austria.

Remember we only started back training ourselves a fortnight ago.

He can't be too far away therefore.

Plus he is a keeper, a fair amount of goalkeepers are sacks of shit, he should be fine.

That is fair enough.

That is why you're best getting your signings in early as apposed too October, taking until December to get match fit then realising they are absolute shite by Christmas.

Re: Utd v Raith Rovers - Saturday 15th July (3pm)

Toshney starting at RB and Coll Donaldson our 1st choice back-up CH tells me we still have a bit to do in terms of shoring up that defence.

Hopefully Paul Quinn is over his injury problems and we can get him in asap.
