Toshney?
Online!
Would have been 'ok' with a 1 year extension.
2 years does seem a bit of a risk for a guy who lets be honest has only played about half a dozen games at a competent level.
Bit concerned this is also an acceptance that he is now our first choice Right Back.

Good business as far as I'm concerned. One of the few players we had last year who was willing to get the boot in. One of our main issues last year, ( almost for ever really) was we were outmuscled particularly away from home.

I was only listing football players on the books.
Happy enough with Murdoch at RB and the defense beginning to look quite solid in terms of likely first picks.
The backup of Toshney, Robson and Donaldson is not a source of joy.

What happened to Devlin?

Devlin obviously isn't happening, happy enough with him at right back but would love for him to start bombing up and down that touch line and then he could become a seriously good right back

Early days for judging Robson but Donaldson seriously needs to find a faraway route. Get on the phone to Poland again please.
Think we are stuck with him and Toshney but the latter is a completely different type of bombscare and might have a better season if injury free. Think all the praise about being able to play a multitude of positions and getting wired in went to his head.
Thought Murdoch was decent at right back.

Are we going to go into the season with a a guy without the legs to play left back at left back and a central midfielder filling in at right back?
Cool, that means Ray's lovechild is shoehorned into central mid.

Loads of folk across 3 United forums, Twitter and Facebook all told anyone that would listen that Devlin had signed a pre-contract.
If it doesn't happen can we get a 'bullshit' emoji?
Some folk post third hand rumours, heasay and gossip as fact, all it does is build us up for the inevitable fall.

A bullshit imoji might be a good idea.
We all crave real news to discuss and some should think twice before getting hopes up or down. That's forums though and that's why I prefer this one.
Also why I think folk should watch DT interview if they want to hear a more real take on what we are aiming for. Nae
guarantees anything he says will come to fruition but a better insight into what we might have than getting excited about gobshite prospects and shite news.
I have to decipher any Arabzone interview with ST as I'm suspicious of the angle, Ray too as he's under huge pressure and trying to keep squad happy and not undermined.
That interview gave more real insight into what the plan is for building a squad, the type of player we're after and numbers sought in positions.
Still some would rather ignore more direct and real info and chat about stuff based on unknown facts from unknown folk with unknown agendas.
DT's insight into what Dundee United are trying to do might leave him with egg on his face but i pay more attention to that interview than any forum breaking news or opinions.

There is a perfectly good emoji - not sure how you'd distinguish it from a bullshit one 😀

Yep 1yr deal would have been fair. As for him being 1st choice RB that is a problem that needs resolved.

he may have had a 2yr offer from elsewhere on the table. Up until his injury he was doing well in midfield he also looked a solid fullback in the last 10 games. On the wages we are offering dont think you could get much better

Uncomfortable reading for Steve Brown this morning with Tommy Wright taking a pop at the chairman over the loss of Tam Scobbie. TW: "It disappoints me. Thomas was even prepared to take a pay cut but I don’t deal with the contracts, the chairman deals with them."
TW: "I’m going to miss him on the pitch and off. My recommendation was he should stay. It’s up to the club but I didn’t want him to leave."
Going by that wee should be happy to have him
Tam's side of the story...

Confirmed that Fraser Fyvie wont be staying at Hibs. Hope we are sniffing about him but I get the feeling he'll want to stay in the Premiership as so many will.

Just for the sake of it, as it's quiet, a player I've thought has 'potential' appears to be at St Mirren on trial.
Willis Furtado, a winger: not yet 20 yo. I've mentioned him before, a direct player who showed up in October at Stenhousemuir.
I've no clue if he's on Raymond's radar, but maybe he should be.

Seriously... whats happening with Nicky Devlin? He sat a few rows behind me with Keatings at the Falkirk game. Was his deal hinged on us getting promoted??

Two for the price of one. Could be one of my favourite posts ever.

Thought I read somewhere recently Kilmarnock were sniffing about him and he is going there? no idea if that's true or not though.

Don't get all the displeasure with murdoch resigning, like he said in his interview on arbabzone, when he first got back in to the team as right back he was there to try and stop the goals and as the games grew he started going forward and turned out to be a excellent right back! Would much rather keep murdoch and strengthen other positions

Agreed don't really see the big deal about him signing for a couple of years. At the least he'll be a very solid squad player which is an important role

If you believe the random Twitter 'agents' we are chasing Devlin, Fyvie, Buaben and Meekings at the moment.
Devlin apparently has stalled since we stayed down and he has other offers. The others are simply a waiting game to see if we win the race to sign them as they all have other offers...
