A lot of fans will be happy he's left: I'm not among them, but the change might benefit both Spittal and United.

Perhaps they will find his "Natural" position. Nobody so far seems to have managed too.

We probably did in the play-offs. Right Midfield in a 442. Decent at right wing back too. One bright light in the our relegation season.
I've got mixed feelings. I hope he does well but I can't see him being the next Stuart Armstrong. I will be watching with interest tho to see how he gets on. But as things stand he's not making a hole in my United XI.

Slightly dissapointed as i do think there's a player there.

flashes of brilliance, however these were too few and far between.

He clearly had something resembling a football brain but was just too slow to play as a wide player. Didn't ever seem to want to try to beat a man or cross the ball either. The ratio of his good games to games where he was either poor or completely anonymous probably sat at around 1-15.
Credit where it is due though he played well in some big games such as Killie 5-1 and Falkirk at home 2-2 (where he was excellent) and he could take a goal but it just didn't happen for him in too many games. A real enigma of a player.
Best position? For me it was right wing back. He could track back and had the fitness for this role but not the skill or pace for anything more offensive in my opinion.

He comes fae Erskine does he no. Guess the move to Thistle lets him move back hame, and just hop over the bridge to Firhill. Hopes he scores a few against the BNBs.

21 yo lassie with a lot to learn still but featured a lot for us.
Think he will go on to do well...just needs a manager who let's him learn in 1 position.

All the best to him, a couple more to go and we start again with Ray's team.

Spittal was the youngest ever player that i would describe as a journeyman ok at most things ( not tackling) but excells in nothing.

Tully says 14 goals in 108 games. Pretty good for a defensive player!
A better goal/game ratio than Scott Fraser too

When we got Spittal, I thought we were getting a wide player but he quickly became one of the many go nowhere do nothing midfielders that was a waste of a jersey. He improved latterly and started to find his feet and a game that was of some use to us but overall probably too little to late. Would have been prepared to give him another year to see if he could continue his improvement but not put out that he's gone. I'd like to think we could do better
