I'd like to see spittal given an opportunity in a new deeper midfield role.
I don't think he's a winger/attacking midfielder but he has qualities that make me think he may be suited to a deeper role.
Battler, good in the air, strong in the tackle, good passer, good engine and always gives 100%.
Young enough to take on a new role too.

He started as part of a midfield 3 on Sunday and the Hamilton midfield ran ah oor um, he's no good enough on the ba to be oor creative midfielder eh think that's scraping the barrel a bit. Let um go and we move on.

I like Spittal, but it's time to move on for him and Utd. Need to replace with better tho, same as all those out of contract, if we don't improve on them the whole things a waste of time.

For every one good game he has there are 4 or five where he has no impact at all. Has the potential to be a great wee player but too inconsistent and in this league we canny have players not hitting a certain level of performance every week.
I wish him well and hope that his next move see's a more consistent Blair Spittal

Spittal did have some qualities however not in a million years could he be described as strong in the tackle. Like far too many in the UTD engine room he was far too lightweight. Time to move on we need to become a more physically imposing team in this league.

I keep changing my mind about him, probably best he leaves tbh
Apparently Partick Thistle after him so would think he'll be on his way - if he does end up there will be interesting to see where Archibald plays him and how he gets on

Don't rate spittal at all, personally can't wait to see the back of him

Never realised you didn't rate Spittal

He's no staying btw.
If McKinnon rated him, he'd have offered him a deal, knowing that if he left he'd be due compo. He didn't offer him a deal, means he doesn't really care if he moves on.

Could turn out to be a decent player in a good side playing football. We're a good bit away from that so not worth carrying him if he only plays well when everybody around him is.
Let him move on and replace with better who offers more to the team.

Not putting it down to spittal but did our losing streak after Xmas not coincide with his injury, then our unbeaten 11 game streak resume on his return?
Not putting it solely down to him but we tend not to lose when he plays.
He's probably not good enough for another deal though with us and will find himself having to struggle by and flounder at one of the 3 SPL teams fighting it out for him

Just reminds me of Dow, showing flashes of brilliance in a game then being anonymous for the next 10.
I don't think he's progressed this season, maybe that's due to him being at his full potential now as a player or maybe he just needs a fresh start.
Can't afford passengers in the team next season, that would be my worry with keeping him

I'm in a small minority who see Spittal as being a huge asset, and feel he'll go on to fulfil the promise at other clubs.
Most United supporters, in my recall, slated Barry Douglas when he was at Tannadice, yet there he is now with a Polish league winners medal, Polish Supercup winners medal, and this week the Turkish Cup as mementos, since he left we've won nothing but relegation.

Funny,i thought that myself when i saw Barry Douglas's twitter post holding the Turkish Cup.
He has went on to have by far the best career out of many of our recent departees over the past 5 years (if you disclude Armstrong).Yet a lot of our supporters had a (really weird imo) almost hatred of the guy.Always thought he was quite decent with good potential FWIW.
Spittal could go on to have a good career.
But it probably will be elsewhere i feel.
Don't think McKinnon really kbows how or where to use him best.

And being touted for moves to Crystal Palace and coincidentally, hull as a replacement for Andy Robertson.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spittal left and went onto better things with another club. I do think he should be allowed to leave though - I just feel we need to rid the club of as many players as we can from the last 2 years and start afresh.

Being heavily touted for The Fun right now.

Stand by my earlier comment, brief glimpses of being a great wee player but once every two months is not gonna cut it at any level.
