Is Wato definitely away?

Just listened to McKinnon's interview on Arabzone regards whether Wato would play any further part in our season and he says 'Look,I'm not gonna cut-off my nose to spite my face,we'll see what happens'.

Slightly contradictory to the widespread reports that he had definitely played his last game.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

Cannae just sack him. Employment law probably means gotta be careful what you say.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

He's only got days left on his contract anyway

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

Imagine theyll just let him see his contract out rather than pay him off for the hase for a week or 2.

If he has any involvement today? I doubt it the fans were not happy thursday with hjm that is the last thing we can do with today.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

The choice is either starting Wato and probably substituting him because he is shit or playing Toshney and substituting Andreu to get Telfer on after Toshney has been sent off.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

He was on a fixed term contract that ends on Wednesday and was seemingly told on Friday that he wouldn't be in the squad today so was free to leave the club immediately.

Which he did.

Toshney it is then.

Telfer will start I imagine Rocky?

If Toshney starts I go from quietly confident to loudly pessimistic.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

I'm hopeful it will be Telfer but knowing McKinnon his love of Toshney and the physicality of Hamilton he will put Toshney in.

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

Not one fan I know of would put Toshney into the team for today: if Raymond does, he's running the risk of losing all the goodwill he's recovered during the play offs.

Toshney to score the winner...............

Re: Is Wato definitely away?

I would rather he played today than Telfer.

At least he offered 'something'.

If Ray had played Wato today he'd have been crucified by our support.

Not if he'd played well.

Fans are fickle as fuck (myself included).

If he hadn't played well, Ray would've been writing his own p45 was never gonna happen

And

He was pish, Scored a cracker, yes, but really wasn't good at all.  Not suggesting for a second any of the other options are any better.

Absolute rubbish.

He was awful.

And he referred to himself in the third person.

Telfer, like most of the team today, was shite.

So you admit Telfer is/was shite (has been for 3 years imo).

But it's 'absolute rubbish' that someone could possibly have played better?

ok 👍

Me too and the stats back up this position

Team with Kuate     P8 W4 L0 D4 F15 A9
Prev 8 w/o Kuate    P8 W2 L3 D3 F9 A13
Next prev 8 games  P8 W2 L4 D2 F11 A13

With Kuate we had more wins, no defeats, scored more goals, conceded less, won at places (Falkirk, Morton) where previously we'd had gubbins. We had more goal attempts 110 in Kuate matches v 94 and 84 in the other 2 x 8 game sequences. With Kuate, struggling players like Murray and Spittal started to shine and fans started forgetting about how crap the manager was. The talk of not buying next season's season tickets had diminished..

Binning Kuate 1 game early or subbying him 12 minutes late in his last game might just be the biggest mistake Ray will ever make

Because of Wato Kuate, everyone was gonna renew? Wow

Boy turned slower than Paton, never tracked a run (this cost a goal vs Falkirk), there's a myth his passing was great, it wasn't, he cost so many chances by giving it away. He's pish, playing him would not have made any positive difference.

& you know full well if he loses the fans, he isn't. Playing Wato and a similar standard of performance from him as Thursday, then he's put himself in danger.

Bad choice of words after a long day, it's your opinion so I shouldn't have said it was rubbish.

I completely disagree with your opinion.

I never admitted anything other than the United team, including Telfer, played shit yesterday.

Of course it is possible someone could have played better.  It's also possible that that someone, in this case Kuate, could have played worse.

WOW. Curious to know why out of everything I posted you chose (a) the final throwaway remark and then (b) chose to misrepresent it. For the sake of clarity, I didn't say everyone was going to renew. I made the observation on the basis that fans had been focusing on going to games, getting tickets, etc instead of talk about canceling season ticket, "eh'm no goin' back" etc and if we had continued the unbeaten sequence the clamour for season tickets next year would have been bigger than they are likely to be now.

As to saying paying Kuate wouldn't have made a difference - that is the point of my post - despite your analysis, the stats suggest it just might have. Ray said he wouldn't cut off his nose to spite his face - I think he did.  And  for what its worth as soon as I saw Telfer as a straight replacement for Kuate, my expectations of playing in the Premier League next year disappeared..
