Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

Straight shoot-out now.

Do Utd have the talent or bottle to go to Falkirk and win on their plastic pitch?

Recent history would suggest not sadly.

Our away record has been abysmal and added to that the fact that we have played Falkirk 5 times already this season winning only once (and even that was a tight game with a late winner courtesy of Mark Durnan).

But...this is a 1 off 'winner takes all game' and we must forget our recent record there (and on plastic FULL-STOP for that matter).

McKinnon has some big selection decisions to make.

Robson or Dixon at LB?

Murdoch is out so who goes RB?Dillon?Spittal?

Wato had a mare last night.

Who plays beside Flood?Telfer?Allardice?Risk Fraser?Or give big Wato another chance?

Play 1 upfront or go for broke?

What say you?

How do we win this game?

Dillon.  Durnan.   Edge    Robson
                      Telfer
   Spittal.        Andreu.      Fraser
            Murray.       Mikkelsen

Zwick Flood Kuate Allardice Coote Dixon Nicholls

Dixon on the Astro is a no for me
Wouldn't sacrifice our star player to RB when he's in such fine form
CM area is a problem, in my mind you put a team out of creative midfielders and go for it from the first whistle, I fully expect this not to happen, but it's what I'd do.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

Why not do a Brian Welsh (last play offs) and play Donaldson up top for an hour and let him cause as much mayhem as he can - needs a bit of route 1 game plan (worked for 1st goal tonight) and gets ball into their final third more often as well as out of ours which is what we need. I'd also get Allardice' s fresh legs to sit in front of the back 4. He's a mobile CB who probably has more discipline than others (e.g. Willo) about staying in position

Keep Kuate in reserve with a view to giving him the last 30 mins.

Only problem I'v got is that if you rule Dillon, Telfer, Nicholls as incapable of making a contribution, Dixon canna play on plastic, Murdoch/VDS are injured, Fraser's no fully enough, there's only 11 left to pick. So my left field suggestion is as follows (4:3:3)

Bell
Flood (played there for Man City/Cardiff) Durnan Edje Robson
Spittal Allardice Andreu
Murray Donaldson Mikkelsen

Subs Kuate, Fraser Coote

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

If Donaldson could create as much chaos in their box as he normally creates in ours that might be a plan.

I think we are fucked now sadly.

They caused us non stop problems into our box and could have finished us of laat niggt with them although they couldnt put it away in the end.
We need to go to them fri naybe 2/3 fresh legs and really go for it. Alot of mistakes laat night which we cant have friday.
Hope to fuck murdoch is back we can not play with sean dillon.
Flood looked fucked i thought.

He needs to get friday bang on

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

What's Frank Van Der Struyk doing these days? Is he fit? Is McKinnon speaking to him?

Too much commotion

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

Tek's question is what McKinnon should be asking himself. That's all that matters. One game. We have to win it, fuck everything that's gone on before just come up with a formation and tactics to get a positive result.

You must get the feeling that Toshney will be brought in for Murdoch, sadly.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

Falkirk effectively played a 4-5-1 last night. Submarine Miller dropped into midfield to give them 3 against 2 in that central area most of the night. This allowed them to control large parts of the game. Big decision for RM on Friday on formation does he play an extra midfielder or stick with 4-4-2 either way I feel our inability to defend the high ball will be our undoing.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

Based on last night very few players deserve to keep their place in the team but who else do we have?  Who do we have to replace Mikkelson, Kuate, Flood, Edge, Durnan??

Based on our performances there this season we need to keep it tight and try to sneak a win, or see the game out and win on penalties, but we’re pish at the back so both are unlikely.

Fucked if I know, I agree that if Toshney is fit he will play, sadly.  Also think Dixon deserves a recall but he was roasted against Falkirk previously and plastic isn’t his forte so I’m not so sure.

Kuate can’t play that bad again surely… Ideally (in the loosest sense of the word) I’d go for:

                     Bell

VDS    Durnan    Edge    Robson

Spittal   Fraser Kuate   Murray

                  Andreu

                Mikkelson

Subs:
Zwick, Dillon, Dixon, Flood, Allardice, Coote, Any striker who fit’s and eligible to play regardless of age or experience.

I thought Toshney was close to being fit last night. Hope you are right, Tek:
see this, showing WDL with and without Toshney in the side:

On another matter, it's not been announced yet by I think we'll get Collum as the referee on Friday.

It's perhaps our best chance! Random decisions which might go in our favour. I'm now clutching at straws.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

One thing Falkirk have is depth. Not great quality but energy & speed. Baird, Hippolyte, Aird all give them energy and pace. Against our tired legs - I think this is where we're going to fall down.

Our season will end on Friday.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

We don't have many options to change. I'd possibly stick Telfer or Allardice in for Kuate but as someone said he can't  play that badly again!

For me, it's more about being a bit smarter. Falkirk sensed Wato and Robson were weak links so pressurised them. I don't recall us doing similar to their fat CH. Also, no short corners or free kicks. Get Durnan and the Edge in the box and hit the far post with inswingers. None of this floaty pish that the defenders lap up.

Unfortunately, they've had all season to address these issues and haven't. So, barring a hugely surprising performance, we are fucked and another season in the Championship beckons.

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

We're really up against it now with the fitness of our squad, VDS is fit but he's fallen out with McKinnon so can Ray be the bigger man or play the horrendous Dillon again?

Whatever team starts in Friday we MUST start well and push Falkirk back and not concede early or I really fear a right battering like the last league game

Re: Falkirk v DUFC - Friday 19th May 7.45pm

The minimum should be a battling display so we can at least close the season with a bit of pride, should we lose this game

I'm wrong again- Kevin Clancy is Friday's referee.
