Darren O'dea

Ex Celtic boy apparently training with us. Centre back who can also play left back. Sure yous can remember him.

Without Fojut and Morris we have Butcher and Soapy, one of them leaving maybe? Soapy In to centre mid? If the rumour Is true though.

Re: Darren O'dea

I would, on the right wage.

Getting older, possibly good time to take him on.

Re: Darren O'dea

Good Centre Half.

Would take him if wages were negotiable.

He was on 25k a week at Reading btw just 2-3 years ago.Factoid.

He lived in East Kilbride (where his wife's from) and i know a couple of people who know him, including his Brother In-Law.

Re: Darren O'dea

I wouldn't however spend one penny on him IF it meant we couldn't afford a forward come January.

THAT is the priority position.

Re: Darren O'dea

O'Dea is miles ahead of Souttar,at this present time.

Or at least was last time i saw him play.A year or so ago.

ROI Internationalist,Champs League experience,100+games in England.

Souttar can't heid a ball and that will be the lads undoing until he fills out a bit.

Excellent with it at his feet mind.

Re: Darren O'dea

Cannae mind of him being anything special, one of those boys who got an easy ride at Celtic then went down South and didn't cut it, although I know he had injuries.

I don't think its a problem position for us, in fact out of players for all 11 positions I'd go as far as to say centre half's would be 9th and 10th on my list.

Re: Darren O'dea

He was on Sportscene a few weeks ago, no long after getting back from Ukraine. Believe he left Toronto FC last year to go to Metalurh Donetsk. Think he requested a contract termination because of the trouble there.

Re: Darren O'dea

No chance, he might be training with us, but sure it's just a training agreement.  We've got the best young centre half prospect Scotland's seen for a long time, and to top it off he's not gonna have to cover for Gavin always out of position Gunning, so why would we bring in anyone else at CH?

Re: Darren O'dea

maybe an idea to play 3 CH's and push our full backs further forward...seeing as there's nae width

Re: Darren O'dea

If it was back in the day of big squads and throwing money away, I would say go for it. Good player but CH not a priority.

I remember him as an out and out stopper, as our present CBs. Can't imagine him playing at LB but if he can do it well it may well be worth a punt to a free agent in line with our current wage structure.
