How did you vote and does this matter in the grand scheme of things?
Fae Angus and have been SNP all my days, we have been under an SNP council for the past 5yrs however they have just been hoisted fae power today and we will more than likely be under an alliance against the SNP. How that pans out we'll soon find out.
There is however been some absolute cockends as part of the SNP here over the past 5 yrs I am more than happy to see them losing all their power. Sometimes you canny treat fowk like shite just cause you got 1500 votes.
Looks fae other places Labour are the new lib dems and we have a choice Indy v's Union at the election in a few weeks time.

I live in Forfar and agree with every word of this (except voting SNP which I've never done despite voting Yes). They've been fucking dreadful in Angus Council. Probably their last act was to approve the 'Transforming Angus' restructuring of Angus Council which will involve my wife's job being downgraded (but being asked to do more work) which will probably involve at least a couple of grand off her salary. How was she informed of this? By a group email. Fucking raging about it.
I desperately hope we get independence now, so that the useless cunts actually start getting properly scrutinised and shown up for what they are with constitutional questions taken out of the equation. Their record has been dreadful in Scottish and local government for years. Council workers in Dundee and Angus have been treated like shite by them.
For the record, I'd have voted Green but their was no bloody Green candidate. Tories ranked last though. Ranked the Independents and Labour before the SNP pair then the Lib Dem.

I'm disappointed with the outcome all over the country, as I'd accept any party getting a boost but the Tories.
Labour needs a total rethink/revamp or they're dead, and the SNP have got an easy ride for a number of years because of the inept folk Labour put forward, and their obvious lack of unified direction. The SNP's record on major issues has been shocking, and the leadership far too dictatorial.
I don't think people have 'gone Tory', but the Conservatives here are emphasising the 'and Unionist' part of their title: this has been enough to sway the people who don't want independence to go towards the Tories.
All of this is, of course, my opinion, but I can't believe a large number of voters in Scotland are actually Tory.
And again, only my opinion, but there is a large group in Scotland who see themselves as 'loyalist', and unfortunately the Tories are their only option. It's a step backwards in my view, and I hope it isn't repeated on 8th June.

Agree with all of this. Anyone in Scotland who changed to voting Tory in a local council election because of the constitutional question wants to take a long hard look at themselves.

Online!
Anti-Independence types defecting their vote from Labour to Tory.
shameful.
This country's irreperably fucked now imo.
Religion underlines every fucking decision this country makes.Make no bones about that.
That and a shameful parochialism.
Makes me dismayed/ashamed to be Scottish at times like this.
I reckon a good few "natural" Tory voters are simply returning to the fold, some have spent years tactically voting to keep Labour out and have now twigged that the SNP are in a position to get an indy vote.
Some are realising that a system of proportional representation means a Tory vote might not be a wasted one.
Will need to see but guess the usual shite turnout - that plus the boundary changes plus the reversion to first past the post for the general election make the locals a questionable guide to what will happen in June

agree with most of the points that have been made their has been a dormant Tory vote in Scotland for a generation that has been stirred by the constant constitutional debate. Voters opting for the Nats have to be voting with independence in mind as their record in local government has been abysmal as has the standard of councillor , thick as shit some of them. If i had more time i would stand myself im sure all the posters on here would give me their backing.
