Billy King

I see we are being linked with a move to sign Billy King from hearts...

Dont know what to make of this one if true

Re: Billy King

Apparently we're after this boy as well. Funny, when I saw the other day that Hearts were letting him go, I thought it might be a good, realistic signing for us. Hopefully comes to us with something to prove and a bit between the teeth.

Has a pretty decent record at this level too, 8 goals in 31 for a winger at 19/20. Think he's add a lot to our side.

Re: Billy King

That would be a good move. Quick, strong and can fairly hit a ba.

Aye and on the ring it's two hands shaking in a 'funny' manner.

Re: Billy King

So far the players we've signed/ looking to sign : Keatings (striker) , King (winger) , Devlin (rb), Stewart (def/mid). I hope we can get a good backup keeper, a solid centre half, another winger and a big bully of a striker.

Re: Billy King

He's only scored 1 goal for Inverness all season.I'm a bit underwhelmed tbh.

With the signing of him,James Keatings and Nicky Devlin (if it happens) it looks to me that we are trying to rebuild a team that is good enough to win the Championship next season.

Trouble is....are these boys good enough to keep us in the Premiership if we get there?

Time will tell but i am dubious.

Again not to sound like the harbinger of doom but surely the longterm plan should be for us to a strong top flight side again.

Re: Billy King

Looks like Rays pal is doing the business on the signings front. Seems to be doing better than the previous recruitment regime. Fans seem to be impressed. Its a pity that Ray's own game hasn't be upped. Still he he 1 maybe 3/5 games to change that. He could be a very lucky guy having Kuate around to mix things up from the usual drivel.

Tek its like eating an elephant - small pieces at a time. Price we have to pay for our disasterous fall from grace

Re: Billy King

I get that Annan.

But thing is we could be playing in the Premiership as soon as August.

Yet to me we are rebuilding for the Championship next season. That's what it feels like to me.

If we were looking for a winger who plays on the right we should have been looking at Dougie Imrie who is out of contract at Accies in the Summer.

Tons of Premiership experience, decent scoring record for a winger and above all a bit of a wee bastard who gets wired in.

If we are in the Championship next season these boys will doubtless do fine for us.

If we are in the Premiership though......

Personally i would have held off a couple of weeks till we knew what division we are gonna be in next season.

Come on Tek, Dougie Imrie?
It's a no from me.

I think Keatings & King will be starters most weeks for us in the Championship but wont be automatic picks in the top flight.

I think its what McKinnon was getting at when he said they had to be able to play in both leagues.
Standouts in the championship but will be competition to the new players we sign if we get promoted. Just reading between the lines like.

Imrie's always been a stand-out for Accies when I've seen him.

All about opinions though.

Though you've just admitted yourself you can't see Keatings or  King being a regular starter in the Premiership.Does that not concern you if that's where we are playing next season?

Do you get where i am coming from about holding off for a fortnight at least?

Strange that you are ok with the signing of King though?

He's done very little of note in the past 2 years.

What is your optimism based on?

Re: Billy King

Based on winning the championship wee hearts, seen a few say he's been unlucky! No idea what has happened at ict, that's obviously a worry but I'm happier we are signing guys like him than some Dutch duds

Re: Billy King

I would also say I really don't think we are ready for the premiership at the moment, obviously I would be delighted if we went up but I honestly feel another year in the championship would be highly beneficial if we won it next year, obviously wouldn't be great financially! But I can imagine it already our expections of 2/3 years ago would come flooding back and the fans would be wanting top 5 immediately and when things go south, it would end up in another relegation and we'd be back to square one
