Players Leaving/Staying

Be interesting to see what players leave and what players will stay.

Players in contract: Bell, Long, Edge, Donaldson, Durnan, Toshney, Robson, Allardice, Fraser. Coote.
Players out of contract: Zwick, VDS, Dillon, Dixon, Flood, Kaute, Murdoch, Telfer, Spittal, Murray.
Players coming back from loan: Sukar, Ballantyne, Brad and Matty Smith, Murrell.
Player Loans expired: Andreu, Nicholls, Mikkelson.

Players signed for next season: Devlin.

Who would you keep from the players leaving if affordable?

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

I'd keep, Kuate, Telfer and Murray.

Of the players still under contract I'd like to see Donaldson, Durnan and Toshney leave plus if any firm offers came in for Bell and Fraser I'd take them.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Would like to sell Fraser if we can, Donaldson, Toshney and Murray to leave for other clubs would also be great.

Although I want promotion badly, we may need another season in the championship to have a proper overhaul and rebuild on and off the park.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Agree with most of what's been said,

Fraser wanted to leave in Jan but club rejected 2 enquiries is what I've heard, don't know why people want us to sell oor best footballer. Also Bell will mare than likely be off as he travels fae Annan everyday (f*ck that) and is fed up oh it.

Realistically we'll need 7-8 maybe even mare Good players but I mean Good  players that will come into the starting 11 and improve us straight away, then start bolstering the squad!

As of those to come in we'll need ti wait and see what Taylor will come up with.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Would attempt to keep Kuate,Andreu and Mikkelsen.

Let everyone else out of contract go and start again.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Is there a ruling on how long players out on loan can stay with the loan club? Or must they return to the parent club within a certain time?

We still lose far too many goals from headers, Durnan has to take a large chunk of the blame for that, he'll not get any better than he is now and he isn't good enough now.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Durnan is still in contract, so he'll  be staying unless some mugs want to buy him.
Plenty of shirts to fill before his

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Of the contracted players would love to see the back of Donaldson and Toshney and free up places for footballers

Of those out-of-contract I would keep Kuate and Murray. Cant believe anyone wants to keep Telfer (apart from one goal what has been his contribution in 3 years) but then again a lot of folk will disagree about my decision to keep the 15 goal, human dynamo Murray.

Would like to keep/sign Andreu and Mikkelsen

A busy time awaits for our Director of Recruitment - cant be any worse than the last 3 responsible for signing or can he ?

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Hard to believe we paid 200 grand for him. Is he the most expensive player we have on the squad ATM ?

It's not really. The fee was decided by on the basis of the player's development.

Telfer had played 12 minutes of a first team career and the club receiving the cash was nuRangers. £205,000

Compare the likes of Jason Holt: he had played 70 odd games for Hearts and about 20 for Sheffield United and the club paying the cash was nuRangers. £65,000

It's only fair.

As for Telfer's abilities, he is a more effective players further forward, as bowers says. Another number 10? We have had lots this season.

Maybe he can be our number 10 next season?

I'd much rather see him playing for one of our Championship opponents next year - might give us more of a chance. I find it slightly ironic that some fans are prepared to keep Telfer who's done zero in 3 years whilst desperate to punt Murray who has scored goals, got assists and worked his socks off - he doesn't do it in every game but we have had the benefit of those where he has performed whereas Telfer is just a waste of a jersey.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Telfer has a modicum of ability but he is just far too soft.

We need leaders and fighters in the team to compliment the flair players and young boys.

He will also be on good money as will Dillon,Dixon,Flood,Murray,Spittal etc.

Let them all go and get in players on less money who are hungry as fuck and have a 'fire in their belly'.

No one at Utd should be on any more than a grand a week if we are playing in the Championship.

We must not only live within our means but also start getting value for money.Recruitment has absolutely crippled us over the last 2 years.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

I accept it won't happen like this, but this is what i'd do.

Keep

Bell, Long, Edge

Obviously the young laddies stay, they'll form part of the squad.

re-sign
Kaute

Bin/Sell/allow to leave

All the rest.

Never a truer word spoken. The root of most of our current issues.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

Sign/Re-sign (if possible) - Andreu, Kaute.

With Devlin having signed a pre contract with us, I would like to sign Forrest from Ayr as well (out of contract) can play on the right wing or up top and has scored a fair few goals the past 2 years for them, has pace, flair player, decent delivery. Something we badly miss.

Would also like to sign either Mark Russell from Morton or Luke Leahy from Falkirk, both good young left backs and better than Robson, also both out of contract.

This is just internet speculation, nothing official has been said.

Re: Players Leaving/Staying

What makes people think Telfer would be any better in the #10?

When he plays centre mid ah he does is go sideways or back? He can't dribble past players? Can't play that killer pass? Can't run in behind the striker? Let the laddie go he's no good enough.
