Kin'ell, that's actually much worse than missing the game.

Maybe something to do with Jackie looking like a bit of a tit backing up Paton (and Rankin) to the max on Monday after this broke.

Unfortunately alcohol is a personality-changing, mood-altering drug. I have known mild, loving husbands become wife-beaters under it influence. And, less extreme, a little old lady, a former nursing sister,  who would have two sherries and proceed to smash up her house! On a personal note, when drinking I was John Wayne, but next morning I was just a big wean....

Re: lukaz zaluska

Maybe you're right Leedsy, I was kinda hoping that professional players at the top of the pyrimid in this country wouldn't be drinking, or at least drunk, on a work night.

I thought we were past that tbh, obviously not.

Re: lukaz zaluska

I take it Erskine is not involved then?  Thats a relief, he's been one of our best players this season.  I'm guessing Paton won't be playing on Sunday.  It would be good to see either Scott Smith or Charlie Telfer in his place, but what will happen is either Dow will come in and Armstrong will drop back or, Townsend will come in at left back with Dillon being pushed into midfield.  This will prove the theory that Jackie doesn't really rate/trust either of the laddies.

Paton, if all this is true needs to think seriously about where he and his daughter live.  Fuck having a wee lassie in Glasgow when 50% of the football supporting population are itching to take a pop at you.

Re: lukaz zaluska

Very ,very disappointing bringing all this shit to our door.

Paton one of my favourite players too. Been a great signing.

We will have to wait and see what the exact truth of the matter is but not looking good at all for Paton.

Re: lukaz zaluska

Question.  If Pates had banjoed Jim Goodwin on Sunday night would all of this be happening and played out in the midst of public mass hysteria?

Yeah, I think it's best it is allowed to settle and allow the rest of the squad to focus on the game. I would bring them back in next week though.

Re: lukaz zaluska

Jackie's judgement just went up on Arabzone, this incident was talked about very briefly at the end.

Jackie said the investigation is out of his hands, it's a club matter that doesn't involve him.  He's concentrating on two big games in the next 6 days after which we'll hopefully be top of the league and in the semi of a cup.

He's removed Wilson and Paton from St Andrews as he doesn't want it to interfere with his preperation for Saturday, too much media interest but also it would rub off on the players, he thinks it's best just to keep them away so he and the rest of the first team can concentrate on getting 3 points.

He concluded by saying he hoped it would be resolved very quickly so they could be brought back into the fold.

Edit - Taken out of training. Pish info on old firm radio.

Regardless, does not fill one with confidence.

Why is Wilson suspended?  Surely a meal with your wife doesn't break curfew

Probably just to take him out of the media spotlight as Hunted alluded too.I don't imagine the fact he was out till 12.30pm the night before a game was looked upon to kindly either, even if he wasn't drinking.

Dissappointed in Pates, and dissapointed for him also. His life will become very uncomfortable in Glasgow now.If i was him (and assuming he still has a future at the club) i would be ringing round Estate Agents in Dundee ASAP.

It brings the old argument of all the squad staying local up again.

Both Jim Mclean and Craig Levein insisted that their players stayed local didn't they?

Ideally i would like all our players near-by,not just because they're close to the training ground, but also, so they get a real feel for the community, the city, and the therefore the club and supporters.

I suppose it is difficult to ask players to uproot though, particulary if their kids are settled at school, wife in a good job and what have you.

Especially now when clubs generally deal in two year contracts.  There's not enough stability offered to uproot your family from school etc.

Agreed mate.

If they are single or have no real responsibilities i would be a bit more insistent that they moved nearer Dundee though if i was Gaffer (i'd be a fucking tremendous Manager tbh).

Add in the fact the pays not what it used to be and it is difficult to insist on,  think Paton might have it insisted upon now though.

Just read STs comments on BBC article, have to say I now fear for Patons future with us, but that is me reading between the lines to be fair.

I did notice that was an excuse a lot of the players out that night are using. Like it's their get out clause.

It Pates is still a United player when the dust settles, he may have no other choice but to move through this way. He's public enemy number 1 to half the west coast now, and with do many nutters out there, I do feel he'll need to keep a low profile for some time.

Not one for conspiracy theories, but we have 2 players alleagedly involved, one who's integral to our team and has just signed an new deal, one who's been a waste of space/wage.

Can we make employemnt law work here for us?

"Don't F*cking ever offer me that again!"

Just watched Thompson's interview.

He seemed very keen to stress that he wouldn't be part of the 'investigation' and his only role would be that of the person who considers 'an appeal'.Curious the way this is getting conducted imo.

Why would the Chairman only get involved in the future Utd careers of two first team players at a late stage and not fae the get-go in any investigation?

Best case scenario for both is suspended without pay for a time i think.I have a hunch (and that's all it is,a hunch) that both will be sacked though.
