Thompson to meet fans

Sounds positive from Ceres Arabs  (I don't get the newsletter).

Hope all parties can get round the table and speak like grown ups, be open and honest and look to see how we can move the club forward.

I for one am fed up of being angry/annoyed/apathetic.

We have too many different supporters' groups.

I worry about this being bad for unity amongst fans. Remember having a laugh at Oldco fan groups bickering and backing idiotic stances and fighting against each other.

Hope the groups can avoid becoming un united and work towards a proactive effort.

I'd guess that idea might be why the Federation of Supporters Clubs came about?

Agree with this! We must be 5 or 6 groups which then makes it nee on impossible to get agreements.

How this is overcome I have no idea however.

Some egos have to be dropped as a first move towards unity, and folk come together in the common good.  Can this be done? I certainly hope so.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

There should be the FED obviously, also on occasion like this you need the rebels, FU are the muscle & Supporters Foundation are the brains, there should be an amalgamation eventually once FU are done the dirty work and got the word out there.

Fuck knows what the Businessman's club or the Ladies if Dundee United bring to the table?

Both clubs alienate the working MAN in a so-called working class sport played by men.

Arabtrust are now a waste of space, got their seat on the board and now couldn't give a fuck now.

The FED should be their to represent the fans and a joint FU / SupportersFoundation should also be represented.

1 issue which I find though is that although the people behind the fed and FU are different, they move in very similar social circles - so are you going to get another opinion or just the same opinion x 2? Since fus inception at the hibs game both organisations hVe acted exactly the same. Do I feel that either group would aptly represent me? No, not really.

Out of interest, who's behind the foundation? Not seen any names mentioned thus far

There's a thread further down the page on the foundation, there's a link there to companies house with the directors on it.

I don't know who is in charge of the FED nowadays but surely the wouldn't be anything to do the FU as that would be seen as an conflict of interest.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

I didn't say they were the same though - I said they are largely in the same social circles which would give a better chance of opinions being v similar - this not giving a spread of opinions.

Ie ask me my opinion and ask my best mate his opinion and they will be pretty similar.

Thanks mate, first time I've never really been familiar with any of the FED reps.

Seperate bodies with entirely different committees with different objectives.
Correct though that it would be a conflict of interest.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

what do arabtrust do?

16/4/2017 10:43 am  #17

Re: Thompson to meet fans

Whatever Thompson tells them to do.

They were put in place by Thompson's father to ensure that no-one would have 100% power on the board and fans would have their say.

Another reason why Eddie will be spinning in his grave at what his son has let the club become.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

An arabtrust committee member recently said that the new trust associate director who has been in place since september has yet to be allowed to a board meeting.

Another associate who will do nothing for thw fans like the last one they had.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

Don't want to get moany but this thread was meant to be a relatively positive one. On the face of it, FU and the fed are getting what they have always said they want - an audience with ST. Now, I'll reserve judgement until he actually meets the fans.

Will FU and the fed be taking up this offer?

Re: Thompson to meet fans

FU declined to attend the meeting with the board members so I guess not in their case?

I note the meeting is 'anticipated' so we'll just have to wait and see if it happens.

Hopefully it will and have a positive outcome but I'm not holding my breath.

Cant speak for FU but if thompson is going to attend then the fed will be there.

Re: Thompson to meet fans

FU have stated that if ST attends a meeting they'll go.

My question is will FU and the Fed actually be invited to the next one having declined to attend the most recent meeting?  It's meant to be a follow up meeting so I think they may not.

Fair point but would work against the club if they didnt allow the Fed and Fu to attend. The ult , business club and foundation represent a small percentage of utd fans at the moment. Trust slightly more though they seem to only to tell their paid up members their thoughts so if utd want to make a go of this seriously then it would probably work against them not letting fu and fed attend.

It absolutely will work against them, but I think he's playing games.  It's gonna turn very quickly into a them vs us scenario, but the season will be over and he's counting on that cos nobody will be protesting.

I may be wrong and he's gonna play nice, but I doubt it.
