FODS made ST an offer of the foundation set up and he knocked them back saying it would never work.
FU met with Colin Stewart as a 5 strong group and seeked a meeting with ST whih was refused as far as i am led to believe the FU door is still open to a meeting with ST to talk.
FED have played by his rules as have others. Questions got submitted as requested by him accepted by him but then the fed ask if follow up questions will be allowed on the answers given. Now i dont know what more the fed and any others can do now? Its his ball he decides who he wants to play with it. Hence why arabtrust the ladies and dubc got the q&a. These 3 groups all lap up freebies from the club.Fed wanted to ask the questions in advance, get the answers then retort there and then, during the meeting, or at least that's what I understand to be the case?
All I'm meaning is that it will have to be like tennis, back and forward. Will take an age but probably the only way it will work?
What did FoDS offer?
What did he say wouldn't work?
He federation wanted a q&a with ST as it had been a request of member clubs. St wouldnt have an open one but would meet committee if pre sent questions had been submitted.
The date was set and the club asked the fed to submit questions that members wanted to ask.. The fed sent them in and the club accepted them.. The fed then asked if follow up questions to his answers would be allowed thats why and when it was cancelled. IMO he wanted an excuse not to meet the fed.
Im not entirely sure of the ins and outs of the FODS offer but along the lines of X amount of fans putting £10/£20/£50 etc a month into them like hearts have.
Thompson said it would never work.
Now surely even having some sort of income this way would have been a start?
Re the Q&A: I think he's wanting to avoid setting himself up for a fall. If he didn't have the answers to the questions the Fed posed after his answers, he'd be hung drawn an quartered, ridiculed etc. Why didn't the Fed go back to him and offer this option of questioning his answers in the same format? [Edit ot say: Was teh Q&A not for all Season ticket holders?]
Having an income stream would be hugely beneficial and if it came with no strings, He'd have taken your arm off for it but could you imagine how some folk would have reacted to that? It would be along the lines of 'imagine giving that b*stard more of your hard earned' - i can guarantee it.
Surely thats not what the Foundation offered though was it? Did they want control? Shares? Because I have to be honest - I'm not a believer of fan ownership. I'd be happy to put my money in to provide an income stream and to provide a wee bit of dosh to a backer and am waiting eagerly to find out what their plans actually are.

I imagine that people will be for and against the foundation.
Im not 100% what was said when they spoke to ST what was offered etc
I imagine they would be wanting so mamy shares to be involved in the running of the club but not taking it over.
Loads of fans will have alot of questions for them when they get everything together properly in the next couple of months.

First observation - what a difference in Thompson's spoken demeanor - his previous self confidence of 3/4 years ago has been completely eroded and he is now a nervous gibbering wreck whom no-one (Graham Spiers apart) is likely to believe anything he says. This transformation Thompson is the price you pay for betraying your fans.
He claims credit for finishing in the top 6, 8 times on his watch - any credit for this surely has to go to Levein/Houstie. Thompsons role was merely to bask in the glory of the inherited successful team before replacing a good manager with a collection of numpties, selling the assets and replacing them with a set of duds.He is apparently disappointed that United got relegated on his watch - relegation didn't just happen - his mis-management was the reason a successful United side got relegated
He claims United are a family club but went silent on why Justine left the board stating that all families have squabbles and disgracefully went on to say that Justine had problems in her life rather than her probable unhappiness with the direction of the club under Steven.
He claims to speak to Ray before most games but didn't say anything about speaking to him afterwards to query why results were bad and performances were rotten
Apparently he's only made 1 or 2 bad decisions - he's probably right (1) taking up the chairmanship and (2) not resigning
Apparently only certain people want him gone - for his info they are called United fans. It was apparently difficult to win United fans over as he had sold 1 or 2 players. I see arithmetic is not another of his strong points.
The real cracker is "the best way is to engage" or "we should be talking" - words failed me at this point
He wants to see United fans happy - someone tell him quick where the exit door is
He also claims that his dad put £4M into the club without adding that it was a high interest bearing loan which has since been repaid. His latest arithmetic was we had debts of £7M sold players for £11.5M and now only have debts of £2M. Obviously didn't receive a Stoabbie education like me
I got the impression that (a) he is desperate to get out if only someone would buy and (b) the club is probably heading towards administration in which case it would be the end of the gravy train for him.
Won't have much chance to listen to the interview for a bit but based on what you've said...
He's still equating Eddie buying shares with putting money into the club - not true - at any rate although ET did put money in I'm pretty certain it was nowhere near £4m - must check how much.
On the transfer money - you need to factor in that the club ran an annual loss - sometimes not STs fault - two collapsed TV deals during this period for instance.

I'm not getting into how much Eddie did or didn't actually put in, but that bit in bold, particulary the last bit wasn't part of the interview last night, not that I heard and isn't that just what some of us might suspect, but there's no paper trail?

Did the FU leaflet say we sold players for 6m? A bit different to 11.5?
I don't know - just looking for the truth

Didna hear the interview on Sportsound, as I left the hoose at half 6 to get a couple of pints before going to the match. However I did record it on the Tivo box, and I've listened to it twice the night.
Thompson was asked about how much money his family had put into the Club. He said his family had put it £4M. He emphasised that £4M was a lot of money, and it was gone now.
He was asked about the financial situation of the Club. His answer was that there had been £7M debt, and the debt was now just under £2M.

13 mins 30 seconds in is the detail bud...........
Added to the numbers is the claim that irked a lot of us including myself that the money his father invested is "gone and will never be seen again".
That is the same sentence he laughed whilst telling I think Jim Spence in an interview before things went tits up and I've always wanted to know the facts since as they don't add up . He's said it again on the same radio station.
"It's gone and we'll never see it again", when the majority of fans believe he has taken it back needs to be cleared up. Some of us will never forgive him for selling Armstrong and GMS to cup final opponents after claiming we don't need to sell and wouldn't sell.
The family "investment" and debt paid of issue needs clarification. The issues are entwined and trust lost as a result. Give us the facts!

I heard that, but what I was meaning was you initially posted that it was a high interest bearing loan which has since been repaid.
I though what you meant was that was specifically mentioned in the interview, which it wasn't.
So, despite loads of fans being of the opinion that on some level the money has been repimbursed, the official line is that money invested is gone.
