Tope

Fruatrating as fuck player who had more bad than good games for us but fuck me do we miss his runs?

Crying out for another winger when he is here yet he gets released and replaced with another winger who has done fuck all since arriving.

Im not saying we would be top with tope still here but this looks like its been a big mistake.

Re: Tope

His pace created panic in the opposition defence.
It also pinned back any fullback from attacking as they knew they couldn't get back.
with spittal playing defensive on the other wing that's how our defence performed better. This was a good temporary measure.
I would have preferred another blistering winger on the other wing in the transfer window though to really fuck teams up.

Because he had a shite touch and the majority of his crosses were pish.
He'd never cut it if we got promoted but he was good enough for this league.
he still created chances and panic due to his pace.
His replacement does neither

Re: Tope

Tope was no loss, lack of replacement with better player is.

Re: Tope

Topes replacement is better defensively quite sad for a wingers main strength to be his defensive work.

Re: Tope

It just shows how shite we when people think we should have kept Tope Hebegeebee, he was fucking rank rotten, when he was meant to be look for space he sat on the halfway line, when he was meant to be beating the full back he does so by running the ball out for a goal kick.

I for one am glad he is away, Nichols is nothing great but he is still better in the team than what that waste of space was.

That signing speaks volumes about McKinnon's time here as manager, sign a player, release him four months later,  at least when McNamara was here he never knew Dave Snijder was a fruit loop.

Spot on    Tope offered feck all, the only mistake Ray appears to have owned up to by punting him.

Re: Tope

Tope was one of 2 players we have who could beat an opponent. He could also out-run anybody and could send in a great cross. If Ray had given him more game time AND payed to his strengths Tope could have achieved much more than his 8 assists and 2 goals. However Ray chose to play some boring non attacking game and expected this creative to run around like some headless chickens. Our attacking threat has declined significantly since he went.

Not saying he was the greatest but we could have got a much bigger contribution from players like him and Murray.

Disagree with those berating Tope. He had strengths and weaknesses. Our manager didn't play to his strengths and is another example of why we are doing so badly. The players we have are not candidates for the Hall of Fame and will never get into United top 100 but if we had a decent manager my opinion is that this group of players would be top of the league by a fair margin and I speak as someone who welcomed Rays appointment. He was meant to know the league and said he would improve and get the best out of players. He doesn't seem to know how to win score goal attack or defend and im struggling to see any player up their performance Mathew Durban apart and his improvement is largely down to the Edje.

8 assists and 2 goals in half a season. Did he not win a couple of pens as well?
That's a not bad return from a winger that never started every week.
I've already stated he had severe limitations but he also had strengths that made him more than fit for purpose for this absolutely gash quality league.

Re: Tope

Opinion divides....didn't rate him at all.

I'm glad he's gone.

Heart sunk when turned up on match day to hear he was in team or when saw him stripped to come on as subbie.

Remember when we used to debate who the better option in the team would be?

Now it's "but he's not as shit as him" sad times.

Re: Tope

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
But we can't ignore facts to suit.

He wasn't very good but as the original point goes, how can anyone be glad he's gone when his replacement is half the player he is??
If he went and his wage freed up and got in 2 quality players (like the Ryan McGowan sale did haha) I could understand it.

That Nicoll unsurprisingly is not very good does not in any way make Tope a better player.

We knew when the water carrier was announced that there would be nothing to see there. He's turned out to live down to his billing.

Ray is problem for bringing Tope who wasn't good enough then not getting someone else instead who is.
