I'm a member of the FU group on Facebook and yes, initially there was a lot of angry responses from fans to the reaction Fridays protest got and in the days after there were also a few posts name calling those that disagreed or rubbished the group.
However the group quadrupled in size almost overnight in the lead upto and after the game and it needed moderator intervention of sorts as folk just thought it was a place to vent it went from a very controlled group, to a far bigger group and I think we can all agree it's a very emotive subject.
There now seems to be a real acceptance from most that no matter how pissed off you might be with someone, how much they might try and discredit the group, or even just disagree with the group, you have to the the bigger person and not respond with names or insults, folk will sign up see this stuff and immediately be put off.
That's good to hear from my point of view.👍
Also fwiw although i didn't agree with the timing of Friday's protest neither would i argue anyone's right to protest. We live in a democracy afterall.

2 points that come to mind...
1) a protest group burst into the scene with no warning and aimed to disrupt our biggest game of the season with their protest - yet there was no warning of it or explanation behind the groups aim. It unsurprisingly went down like a damp squib. There is still no information available publicly a week after. Plenty have asked questions on message boards and the majority have not got answers. There's a mystery meeting happening that nobody knows where or when. My biggest concern is that the protest group are set up because of personal issues more than the day to day running of the club - i like many other need convinced to follow your lead, to set it in my mind that this is the best course of action. Is there a timescale for any of this to happen
2) Plumber. Don't wish to go over old ground- you and I have probably went over enough lately....but ARE we running at massive losses currently? - not sure if you can answer that as ST had closed shop.
And yes I've seen the accounts, yes there was over 2m of losses but that was the relegation season. That's when we budgeted for top 6 and came last. That was without top 6 games and prize money and the disastrous paying off of 2 managers. ( for the record I thought jmac should have gone in the summer - but it would still have shown up in the same years accounts. Mixu on a 3 year contract was baffling imo) Are your group saying that from now until next Wednesday, the clubs bank account will drop 50k?
We've also had a reduction in player costs and will have a massive one in the summer. I'm guessing if we had paid up the contracts of those not worthy of playing for united last summer, there would have been no money left to get replacements - so the likes of cammy bell and the edge would not be at tannadice now.
Had we paid off the dross, it would have added to our losses - something which we all w want to avoid

Just out of interest, do you have an agenda against Fans United? I'm not going to judge you if you do or don't. Its entirely your prerogative, you just come across as if you are opposed to change and that you are happy with the current set up despite the wafer thin comments that you want change.
I've seen enough comments and responses from FU in the last week to know that they have very much admitted that this is work in progress, that they currently don't have all the answers and that they are taking on board comment from others and trying to mould this desire for a well run club into a real, hard and fast model. Unfortunately I don't think those organising this seem to get much chance to do that due to answering the same inane questions over and over again from people who are demanding answers that they currently don't have.
I am all for a change at board room level but I personally think that FU should have had a plan that they could detail to the support for them to get behind before having the protest. The protest has happened and these guys who care about the club are trying their best to do something about it to ensure the clubs future under a chairman who knows what he is doing.
Additionally, I'm pretty sure I have read previously that ST has said that United have never budgeted for top 6. We budget for bottom 6 and anything above that is considered a bonus. The failure from the board is that we never considered being relegated despite, the asset stripping, and we didn't have any relegation clauses in any of the contracts and we are still paying top tier wages for second tier employee's.

Think you're right on the budgeting thing, sure he always claimed to budget for 7th place, unfortunately while budgeting for 7th it still always looked like we were budgeting for 2nd when the operating losses were revealed each year.

Nope. You've got me all wrong. I want change however if a group is going to set about bringing change it has to be correctly.
I want to have facts about miss-management. I want facts about how the group see the future without ST and I want to make sure that the group is driven by positive change and not out of personal issues between some of the leaders and ST.
If i can see its well thought out, they will 100% have my backing. All I've seen so far though is a group who have dropped a bomb in the middle of the United support, hidden facebook groups and insults. I just want info. I'll even buy a yellow hat and put into the foundation which is being mooted, if it's a viable prospect

If I've got you wrong then fair doo's.
I agree that there needs to be a coherent plan in place before the majority will buy in but I reckon that in order to achieve that we have to work together as fans and not throwing up hurdles or being obstructive.

👍 not trying to put up hurdles but all v important questions (in my mind anyway). I can't believe that the group has been going since September and they know nothing of what they expect...if that's the case, it's a bit niave and I'd suggest they need others on board with a bit more media savvy.
Off topic though, mr macho man, the rap on the wwe album (Simon cowells first ever album) was cracking. Much better than the nasty boys. 'I'm a tower of power, too sweet to be sout, funky like a monkey, ohhh yeahhhhh'

Seen a bit of paper the other day with Walter Mitty-esque financial gains based on un-realistc on field targets, hope he's not following a similar one.
Candygram for Mongo.

Yes we are running at a huge weekly loss and we're still paying off the two management teams I'm lead to believe.
Even with around 4000 adult season tickets and a good few bumper crowds paying cash we ran out of money at the end of January and as soon as the season ticket money starts coming in early April that will get spent.
United are in the shit with no plan, , investment or any players to sell to fill the holes.
Thompson will be praying every single day for an Andy Robertson sell on clause coming to fruition.
2 years ago we were a handful of points off the top of the SPL, were in a cup final and had quality players that made us the envy of other fans........
Now we're 4th in the SFL with zero chance of promotion
Sold anyone and everyone that was good
We're over a million in debt
Running at a huge weekly loss
We've had to borrow 200K to stave off administration
Sponsors are pulling out
We've no good youth coming through anymore
We've no scouting set up anymore
We don't even own our ground anymore
But we added a stadium manager, jim Spence and retained David Southern
Stephen Thomosons barmy army

Small point but we do own the ground. Someone has security over it for a loan but we do still own it.

He's got a clearly defined 5 year plan, which involves sitting praying Hull sell Andy Robertson for £10m+ and somehow we get cash in for one of our current stars like, em, let's say, maybe, there's got to be someone, surely, no you say, oh fuck.

Andreu is a good player. He might bag us a few quid..... oh, he's only on loan.
At least we sold Coll Donaldson to that Polish outfit because if we said no and held out for a ridiculous sum and kept his wage going for another 4 months that wouldn't help the financial woes..... oh, we didn't sell him even to get a small amount of cash for a bit part player and some wages off the weekly bill that is currently crippling us.
Sack the board!!
