As about as good as it can get......hard to be worse.

Benching Fraser is the right move, for a few games hopefully, shake the bugger awake maybe !

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

I'm hoping Raymond now realises his selections need radical revision.

We are going to be in the play-offs, so it would be a target to finish as high as possible to make it a bit easier.

Somehow, I'd be accommodating Coote in that side, and also thinking about next season, when most of the squad will be altered again. Nichols was one of the few successes on Friday (only my opinion), but he won't be here in 2017-8. Neither will Andreu, and I'd think about putting him on the bench too.

So.....

.......................Bell.......................
VDS.....Durnan...Edjenguele...Robson
.......Fraser.......Telfer...Flood.....
......Coote......Mikelssen...Murray

Is there a right back in the Dev. Squad who could play?

Interesting to see everyone picking Robson ahead of Dixon yet our manager will not play him

Was told by someone months ago that Ray doesn't have faith in our kids and his plan was to fill the team with physical and 'experienced' players like Toshney,Murdoch,Mikelssen,VDS etc.

Jamie Robson,Matty Smith and Justin Johnson could all have done a job in this league imo.Ali Coote off the bench too.

Ray is over-thinking this league imo.He thinks it's some kind of battle when in actual fact it's just about scoring goals and winning games.

He is so so negative.

It's horrible to watch and we as a team have no drive or zip about us (that youth can give you).

We must be the slowest DUFC team EVER infact.

TEK if RM is trying to make us a physical team he has failed miserably. However he is correct Imo that Div 1 is a battle. It should also be noted that he has played players like Fraser & Spittal 2 of the most lightweight players ive seen in 50 years.

Pace and width walks this league. We needed a decent striker and a right winger in the transfer window. He signed a striker that he rates below his centre half and released his left winger.
Even though obadeyi was only successful with his crosses on a 1:10 ratio, beating his man was 9:10. Defenders shat it against him at this level.
We are pedestrian and never look like scoring.
I also can't believe when it went 10v10 he never made changes straight away and when he did he brings on VDS instead of telfer. The midfield were fucked after playing 50mins a man down

Agree too.  VDS was also injured for the last 20 mins (after making a last ditch challenge granted).  Telfer should've been on for him or Nicholls.

Too much commotion

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

Find it very hard to pick what my starting 11 would be these days, the lack of width being the main issue, I think I'd go

                       Bell
  VDS.      Edge.    Durnan.    Robson
                       Flood
         Telfer.                Fraser
                       Andreu
          Mikkelsen.         Murray

Subs Zwick, Dillon, Dixon, Nichols, VDV, Coote

We need3 points badly has to be a positive attacking side starting.

I think we will get the opposite.

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

Ray has said quite a few times recently that he likes to keep it tight for the first 65 minutes then try to attack more after that.  This plan appears to fail every week.

TheShed's team for me or TEK's.

See this, this is just shite and exactly what's wrong with us because he confuses 'keeping it tight' with being good at defending. We aren't so he sets the team up as non attacking. Once we concede then we are fucked as plan B is non existent and ray never makes a substitution until the 60th minute, then the 75th then maybe the 80th. Like a teenager playing football manager.
Interesting stat - Chelsea are the only team in the EPL to use all 3 subs every game - conte not scared of changing things.
Don't get me wrong, I love defensive football, my favourite players are Baresi and Maldini. The defended well but usually after Gullit, Van Basten or RiijKaard had scored at the other end.
Play to win or what's the point

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

Mind Levein used to set up to keep it tight like that and it worked, but that's because we were the fittest team in the league, had width, had pace to hit on the break and could defend.  If your gonna play that way those are the things needed in the team.

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

I'd like to see us go with a diamond, it gets Fraser and Andreu playing in there correct position which would benefit us massively IMO, Flood/Murdoch/Telfer sitting with Telfer/Murdoch/Flood to the right, fraser to the left , Andreu in the hole. 2 up top.

Manager always goes on aboot the full backs geen us the width so why no set up with players in the right position instead of haying him oot on the right or a winger on the left with nae pace? Play them in the right position and watch the change, tellin yih.

Look forward to the 4-2-3-1 the night tho (could greet)  Mon the Shed!

You could be talking about Wee Jum in European away games. That's how to "keep it tight". Not the turgid shite we're currently watching.

Exactly, man was a master at playing that way and there's nothing wrong with it if you have a team with the qualities to make it work, we currently don't.

Re: St.Mirren v Utd - Wednesday 15th March @7.45pm

See the 'keep it tight' until late in the game, then rely on fitness to attack the opposition - that's Houstie's main tactic.

Like folk have said here, we haven't got the players to do it.
