Re: Protest

How many scarves did you shift last night ?

Re: Protest

It was good to hear the majority of fans drown out the protest. I'll wait for the FU ers to come on here and admit they were wrong. First time for everything, I suppose

The only ones that were singing after the 12th minute was the protesters.

The protesters that were protesting against the protesters were silent for what I could hear .

Re: Protest

if a credible alternative owner is out there, there would be reason to protest. If ST gets up this morning and puts the keys in an envelope hands them in at reception who will be in charge? The overly aggresive attitude adopted by some members of FU towatds anyone who dosent agree with the armageddon prophecy makes them totally unsuitable to lead any group that requires everyone to pull together. One yellow scarf wearing chap (about 30) told an old guy(about 80)  to shut his puss. The old guy had said get behind the team

So folk should just sit back and say nothing? Some fans are genuinely worried about our future and if they feel protesting helps then that's up to them. We still live in a free country and have a right to protest .

I can't believe that with the shit we're in some fans just won't do anything.

Everyone has the right to protest agree 100% about that but what is stage 2 of the plan after ST goes. This needs to be out there if FU is to get the bulk of the fans behind them

I think ST has probably noticed that hes no very popular and tbh I doubt that anyone would be sorry to see the back of him.

Protests however rarely get anything done (and God knows I've been on enough of them over the years to be sure of that).

Serious plans and organisation is needed rather than simply telling someone to gtf -though to be fair I take the point that FU are at least doing something.

I'm just not convinced they're doing/will do the the right thing(s)

I agree totally and hopefully the boys that organise it learn from last few days.

Imo I don't think fu plan to protest on a regular basis . I think because it was on TV it was deemed the ideal opportunity to cause thompson some grief.
I think though that they've started something which is only gonna get bigger IF they take on advice that they're being given.

Being absolutely honest though I'm absolutely scunnered with the whole thing and this Wednesdays match against st mirren is the first league match I've deliberately missed. Hurts me doing that but I just have lost the urge to go now.

Re: Protest

The protest did galvanise fans one way or another to make more of a noise than usual in the lead up to the tenth minute: maybe it should have been organised for the 83rd minute?

I'm losing the bug to go to forthcoming matches, it has to be said. And if I'm lacking enthusiasm, I'd imagine many more are like me: and possibly the only way to activate change is to refuse our custom.

We're going to be in the play-offs, it's just a matter of how many games and who gets home advantage second, now.

Re: Protest

After sitting listening to fans booing Arabs singing Thompson out last night, I went to my bed ready to chuck it until he is out.

Read a lot of post on the Fans United FB page today and my faith in Arabs has been restored quite a bit.

The booing United fans will just get back to giving Scott Fraser shite for 90 minutes next game Nae doubt.

HeggyHandshake, if you are part of FU, then you can't be thinking in an us and them way. If FU build barriers it will put folk off. Most wanted change (including myself) but convince people with cold hard facts and not opinion. Give people the knowledge.  Give people a clear plan of how you would like to see it pan out and give details of the person or persons who are going to waste at least 5m on united (purchase, debt, investment).

Give people something to rally round

He was indeed at the game, they showed him on the tele during the protest. Hink it was just a scarf he had on though not a balaclava.

Re: Protest

will the meetings out on the road be shown on Facebook live (or similar?) for those who can't attend?

also i see the fan foundation (guessing v similar to the foundation of hearts) want punters to donate 10 quid or more a month and hope to raise 250k? that equates to approx 2000 adults or half our adult season ticket holders paying £10? as the foundation will be a limited company, do they have to pay tax on monies acquired? Will 100% raised be given to the club? What happens if agreement with the club cannot be reached and money is withheld? Have the ff sought advice from foh to gather info?

They definitely will need to pay tax on that as a Ltd (unless they somehow gain charity status).

But i am guessing they know that and are hoping a considerable percentage pay more than 10 quid a month.

A push for your average punter imho.
