Re: Protest

Anybody any idea how much it would cost to hire an impartial accountant to give a comprehensive assessment of the accounts once they are published in full? Surely a good few of us would chip in for it?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Just you keep thinking that from afar... nothing to worry about, honest!

Re: Protest

The 200k loan we got in January is in the accounts that came out last week.

The way I see it, protest if you want to and don't if you dinna.  It's up to the individual.

Surely that should be the other way about?

FU (quite an apt acronym) should be surely trying to reach as many Utd fans as possible and let them know what they're all about?

Asked a few very basic questions of the group last night i.e why yellow and black?what's the groups main aim?etc (because it was the first day i was made aware of the group and i was intrigued about them).

The responses from a couple of members (at least i think they were members) dissapointed me tbh. There seemed to be an almost annoyance that i had asked anything.I was even accused of 'fishing' (bizarre).

I see more nippy responses tonight from people on Twitter with the FU avatar. One arab harmlessly asked (like me) 'why the yellow and black?'.The response? 'Work it out'.

I mean wtf kind of answer is that?

Is it 'Fans United' or 'Fans United United'?

Where is the info on them?Who is leading the group?Who's their spokesperson?Do they have a website?Or even a social media account?

I also didn't care for the messages i got asking me to pull that original protest thread.I done it out if a courtesy to HH and because he gave me a decent enough reason.

Bit miffed though that it's in the Sun and Record today and yet i pulled it from a Dundee United Fan messageboard.

I won't be doing that again unless the thread descends into anarchy.

To be fair I did tell you it wasn't meant to be leaked today.  It was getting kept under wraps until tomorrow. However, whatever will be will be....

The scarves are yellow to stand out in the ground we aim to sell 1000 plus

We have an elected committee

We are on Facebook

It is fans united

We are endorsing the fans scheme of putting money into the club but no money will go to ST for obvious reasons

Disappointing to hear that Tek, suppose it all depends who you were talking to though. I belive it was meant to be kept under the radar until tomorrow but the cat was let out the bag early without the guys running it having a chance to actually explain what the crack is

See that's better.

As HH has said it wasnt supposed to be leaked it was to be kept quiet till today.

Re: Protest

Why keep the existence of the group quiet until the day they are planning a protest? Makes no sense. Many people don't view forum or use social media so will find out about the protest group in a national rag not worth the paper it's written on half the time or at the game when handed a flyer.

Mind boggling logic

I wouldn't say i was 'getting at' anyone tbh.

But i am running a Dundee United Supporters Forum here. And this is obviously a topic very much to do with Dundee United FC at it's heart.

My point is it was said to me that the thread in question 'shouldn't have been posted' or words to that effect.

How can your ordinary punter know it wasnt supposed to be discussed?

There was a logical reason for keeping it quiet, Unfortunately that's it gubbed.

Re: Protest

Bowers, as a support we can't really afford to think people are getting at each other, or taking sides, or 'for' and 'against' certain stances.

There is no point in people or groups thinking they are in an isolated position.

I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, yet I knew of the yellow scarf idea as early as mid February, and was puzzled as to the choice of that colour. I knew of the leaflet idea at the start of this week, and that FU were looking for ideas as to what should go on these flyers. As an aside, some contact details would have been helpful, in my opinion, of course.

I saw the leaflet which had been produced early yesterday, but was surprised that the FU organisation didn't want publicity. And I'm wondering why not?

Having 120 members in a group, there were always going to be folk who'd fail to keep quiet, it's human nature that if you think you know a 'secret' you'll be keen to tell someone else.

I'd like to think all the organisation, The Fed, ArabTrust, DUBC, United Ladies of Tannadice, UFC2, Fans United, Foundation of United (too many!) could get together independently of the board and work out a strategy, for at present the whole approach appears too fragmented and disunited.

Good post, especially the last paragraph.  Hence why there needs to be some sort of mass meeting organised soon in order to thrash a lot of things out.
