See Rays getting a lot of stick just now and understandably so but given the small world football is where everyone knows a lot about what's going on behind the scenes I really feel that One of the reasons his signings have been so poor is down to the fact that a lot of guys turned us down due to the financial uncertainty at the club. He was left with all he could get basically.
Let's face it would u move to a business that might not have the cash to pay you a few weeks down the line? We're all wanting signings in January and a. couple of weeks later we're days from running out of money. Either all the offers that were in the papers were total BS or guys are saying no to us for that reason I think (prob a bit of both).
I'm not in anyway saying he's getting everything right, he isn't, but I think he's doing the job with 1 hand tied behind his back.

Was it a loan from Cath Thompson then?
Wasn't the name I heard.

I doubt very much Cath Thompson gave us a loan. No chance

I kind of agree with some of that.
BUT
He has made a rod for his own back with some of his other decisions imo.
Such as -
Paying a fee for Toshney that would have been akin to getting another player in.
Persisting with Dixon.
Setting the team up with zero pace and width and infact binning the only 2 players we had who you could attribute this quality too in anyway in January (Tope Obadeyi and Justin Johnson).
Signing Cammy Smith and not playing him (coincidentally St.Mirren's fortunes have rapidly turned round since his arrival).
Playing players out of position too often i.e. Toshney at RB,VDS at CH,Fraser on the wing etc etc.
Still not knowing his strongest team (or formation).
Getting the fans hopes up in January with talk of an 'exciting signing' and talk of 3 players in and then scrambling about at the 11th hour to sign Nicholls (who's omission from the team already speaks volumes imo).
And another one i could probably add tbh was binning Marcus Haber after just 1 day of his trial. He has been excellent for Dundee.
I'm sorry but McKinnon's just not for me.I can't see us going anywhere with him in charge personally.

Justin Johnson deserved to be sacked after his 'performance' in a Dev game at Arbroath near start of season. He was shocking and showed he didn't want to be there.
Cammy Smith isn't better than Andreu and proved he couldn't play anywhere else but in that position.
The January talk, either he was talking in hope that Andy Robertson would go or he wasn't fully aware of the financial mess we were in.
The rest, yep he's got a fair bit wrong. My defence of him really only goes as far as signings is concerned. Once that's what you've got you have to be able to make best use of them, formation to suit etc. Biggest criticism I'd have is not knowing his strongest team and sticking with it.

Got to ask serious questions of the manager now. Been giving him a pass because his squad is fking sh1t but you look at both lineups today, we should be playing them off the park.
Seems unsure of himself. Can see that with his selections. Fucking brutal when you think no cunt has known what our best 11 is for going 2 or 3 seasons.
You can forget promotion, that's for fucking cert. I'm now shitting myself about things I've read on here and elsewhere. Just how bad is it? Are we stable enough for another year in this league.
Shambles like.
Bailed out by his mum. Safe until September-all I know.September is longer than we've been told. Meeting with Colin Stewart and the boy dorward other week it was said we'd secured money to see us through till the end of the season. Scary
That's genuinely terrifying.

Was it a loan from Cath Thompson then?
They wouldn't say when asked who it was or the way they got it.

While the Thompson family might well have/have to put loans back in the September bit doesn't ring true.
I mean why September?
And if we are as strapped for. cash as some think how come Ray was able to add a couple of players to the squad?

Players were able to be brought in because some moved out .
As I said previously though Colin Stewart said at recent fed meeting that club had got money to see out the season. That to me says we were skint.

its currently all about perception and expectation of fans. I saw an awful game yesterday contested by two very poor teams that ended in a draw. One set of fans were delighted cheered their team of the park and believe they have the best manager for a generation. The other booed their team of the park and are actively questioning the ability of their manager. Nobody wants to be in div 2 but that is the reality.

If they know their outgoings and monthly losses , perhaps the sum of money put in can plug the hole in the bucket for six months to give ST time to sell a couple more players.
The 15p they'll get for Donaldson from Poland if that deal resurrects won't help so hope there's a plan C

And yet for as poor as we were yesterday and have been for ages, we still had 4-5 good chances and should have won the game whilst restricting our nearest challengers to 2 chances (only one of which they scored from). If we could actually put some sort of form & winning run together we'd easily piss 2nd place because quite frankly, no-one else in this league is much kop either.

Passing the ball to a team mate would have helped yesterday.

Post match from Ray was "interesting". Blamed players, the squad is not good enough will be changing in the summer. For the Morton game 7 of Ray's signings started, so if they are not good enough what makes him think any of his future signings will be any better. Anyway Ray mus be oblivious to fans assessment of his managerial qualities to take for granted that he will be around in the summer. Ray also said he would do whatever it takes to win re playing Durnan up top - if Ray thinks that playing Durnan as a forward is a better option than his dreadful passing game, why doesn't he do it more often and much earlier. He also used the Jackie words players were "flat" and he couldna get them motivated - scary stuff for those who care

I thought we had a really good spell (but only ten minutes or so) half way through the first half, other than that it was poor stuff again. Might be wrong about that ten minutes, as I was in hospitality, and the gin was maybe taking effect.
