Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

No feckin idea mate. I hope it's a win, as never like to see a UTD side lose. Not knowing what sort of side RM will put out makes it too difficult to call.

I'll go for a big win of 3 nil UTD. That'd make the trip a bit easier to take, along we the beers mind you lol.

The Final is always on a Sunday.

Who said we would just play the Youths?

Stories going around club don't want to lose hospitality money for dunfermline game so want to play on both days.

Personally think it's a lot of shite

Aye I've heard about this rumour, I'm no convinced it's true though.

The Club are detached enough from the Fans already, without trying to pull this stunt. I guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

That rumour is almost certainly nonsense.

McKinnon has played a strong side in every Irn-Bru Cup match so far.

There's no way he would sacrifice his first (and perhaps only piece) of silverware at Utd by playing the Devs.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

IF the rumour is true, it wouldn't be at Rays choice, it'd be a financial decision.  Money over football.

Fact is tho there is no way the spfl would allow it to happen.  It would make a mockery of their competition (yes I know).

I don't believe for one minute it is true but heard it on Thursday from two different people.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

I heard from three different sources that we're trying to line up a game on the Monday as well.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

I want Ray to use this match to try out a more positive, attacking style, minimising unnecessary and irrelevant passing/midfield play and with a safety first approach to defending. Don't mind who he picks as long as it helps him establish a good game plan for the rest of the season. Wouldn't mind seeing United maximising their arial strengths at set plays instead of wasting them taking them short.

Sorry b&t that was a shit shot
Just astounded that some believe we're contemplating playing 2 games in 2 days, the 2nd one a Cup Final, to preserve hospo income,

4 changes apparently - Dillon, Edge, Telfer & Murray in.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

3-0 up at ht. Andreu's goal was a cracker. Look dangerous whenever we go forward. We are still playing pretty crap, but miles better than last Saturday (not like that would be hard mind you).

Too much commotion

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

Scrape it 3-2 eventually. Fraser poor at both goals. Poor stuff second half after a decent first. Could've scored a few more on the break in the last 5 mins mind you.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

30 years on we get to lose to St Mirren in a final again.

Today's game was brutal, first 2 were gifts, still got the win which is all that really matters.

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

Disappointed. Ok we got a win, but I was looking for a performance to suggest that promotion might be a possibility. We are not going to get 2-goal gifts in every game and we keep repeating our defensive mistakes (QoS 1st goal was a dead ringer for Falkirk's 3rd last week - we have possession on the right side of defence and instead of clearing the ball, we try to play football, lose possession and gift them a goal and a way back into the game Ray then takes off our danger man and what little goal threat we have, disappears.  Opportunity lost and I now have my doubts as to whether Ray is the man to get us out of this league..

Re: Irn bru Semi predictions?

I cannot believe the shite I read on forums nowadays,

"the club wants to play Saturday & Sunday so they don't lose hospitality money in a game against DUNFERMLINE"

Jesus wept

The loonies really are taking over the asylum.

I am in no way at all a Thompson/Sutherland lover, not even a fan, but some of the rumours like this are fucking ridiculous and people who actually believe them need to give their heads a wobble.
