Seen this topic making the headlines today. What do you think following United?
I must admit saying it is a touch dear if on a game by game basis and paying at the gate like I currently do, but the season ticket packages do represent good value especially if you have kids. Of course when you compare this to down south with clubs even in the Championship and league 1 and you see the prices there it makes ours look not too bad. This is only the addmission prices though.
Catering is a complete rip off. It wouldn't be such a problem is the stuff was any good and of half decent quality but it's not. Try to avoid it, but hard in the winter when you want a hot drink.

Personal opinion is that i think the likes of £22 to get into Killie on a friday night live on tv is a rip off and should be £15 max for an adult £5 for an u18. That goes for all matches on tv just using killie as example it was last week.. The deal struck with Motherwell is fantastic and hopefully this leads to other clubs agreeing with it. Also think if this was to happen on a permenant basis when you take your season ticket to gain reduced admission to the away end it may increase season ticket sales. Not much but some may do this.
Catering at tannadice is a shambles prices are dear in most grounds
Online!
Catering is a big bugbear. As is teams changing their strips every season. It would'nt even be so bad if they brought out new home and away strips on alternate years rather than 2 or even 3 new strips out every season.

It's the fans fault as we keep paying It. We will continue to as well. The 3 game package united have brought It Is pretty good IMO.
Pies at Tanny are £2.20, drink £2.50, sweet £1. You can get a tesco mel deal (sanny's or a baguette, crisps and juice) for £3. At Tanny that comes to at least £6.
Rip off, while I don't blame the caters, I laugh at the fans who pay It,

That's not very nice Rodge, a lot of people take kids to the game mate and it's the done thing to buy them something, getting ripped off is bad enough

Thing that struck me was the bullet point about the ticket price rising at twice the rate of inflation.
Makes you wonder if the trend in gate prices has had anything to do with attendances dropping over the years. Look at the stats in Arabarchive from 25 years ago. I agree that a lot of this has got to do with the stadiums being all seated, but it still shows a downward trend.
Know the prices aren't as high as down south, but you'd think clubs would be well aware of this enough to make an effort, esp. in these days of austerity.

I think the ticket prices for TV games should be looked at, but this is where the ST holders get a bit annoyed etc.
Think the ticket price generally isn't ridiculous for most games, I mean if it was £20 for most games I wouldn't think about it too much. At the moment most games nudge just over this and then push up to £25-30 which is when it becomes hard to take.
If the catering wasn't as bad or expensive, (just need to sort one of these issues) then that would also help alievate things a touch.
End of the day a lot of this comes down to players wages, but it's not just the players wage as players also come with other costs too, down to the simplist thing like feeding them. Is this because they can't be trusted to eat right? I don't get fed at work and most other folk in everyday working lives don't either. It's a physical/sporting profession but plenty other examples out there of people in similiar situation but don't get this benefit. Or is this being too pedantic?

The price of games is a joke. I know clubs have to make money but i think price for a game should be 20 quid tops. Even that is too dear. I've got a season ticket and tbf to United it is a good deal you get. However, I refuse to pay more than 20 quid for an away game. If that means I don't go to an away game this season then so be it.tv
22quid for Killie on a Friday night when it's on tv. Good ain. Hats off to those who went but it's not for me. That coupled with the fact that there isn't really anyplace good to go for an away since the Embra teams went down.
Went to Dens though and that was 25 quid but no travelling costs.
The Motherwell game is a good deal but I'm knackered on a Friday and the thought of driving doesn't appeal tbh

Roger...canny agree with you there.. there is forever complaints regarding the quality of the food more so than the price... there is complaints on the pricing but your inside a football stadium with nowhere else to get a drink or a bite to eat unless you take something in with you.. If the quality got improved then you would rarely hear complaints on pricing as long as they didnt put them up.

It's definitely the quality that that bugs me more than the price, but as you say bowers that is as long as prices don't go up further.

I don't think i've ever bought anything from the shop to eat ever at Tannadice.
At they prices i certainly won't ever.
Away from home when you are on the sauce -is a different story -hope its much cheapness in funny talking land next Saturday.

Understand mate of course, but you know where I'm coming from. Say you have 2 wee kids. 2 juices = £5. 2 burgers = £8. 2 sweeties =£4. A programe as well £3. Thats £20 mate, could do you a week's shopping If you're careful.

Excuse my ignorance, but have the caterers changed, or is it still that Linley lot.

Does anyone know why United stopped selling Nicol's pies and bridies? They are brilliant. Every time I'm in Dundee I always take some home for the freezer.

United franchised out their catering, they only get an annual rent on the premises, they have no control over what products are sold or the prices.
Seems they've just taken the easy option, there's obviously profit to be made there so I would prefer United ran it themselves, and like you said - the quality is so much better from previous suppliers.
The commercial department has undergone a major change over the last few months, maybe this is something that will come back into our own hands. If memory serves the contract with Lindley's ends after this season.

Cheers, Andy. Bring back Nicoll's.....

The contract was meant to run out with Lindleys In June 14 but In June 13 they paid us a signing on fee for an extra year (14/15 season), united took the straight upfront cash, smart from a business point of view.
Greggs are apparently after the SPFL's catering contract, If they kept the prices same as their shops then they'd sell out.
Offline
Greggs prices are good but their pies are rank.
In another thread someone mentioned stovie pies, we should get something like this - signature dish.
Offline
At the end of the day if Lindleys or another catering firm offer you Utd x amount of money per season to take on the shops then Utd will accept it again. Saving utd employing staff to work the tills.
Offline
Greggs is rank. Frozen shite

Think the club should weigh it up. Its easy and less risky for the club to take on someone like Lindleys but it should be reviewed when so many of us think it is beyound shite. And it's not like it that difficult to fix. Definitely potential there to make more out of it than is currently recieved in lease fees.

That is true and the club are well aware that there is alot of unhappy fans with the catering. but they may take the easy option and go with lindleys or someone else
