Communications

Despite some awful performance over the past few years, the relegation to the Championship and the mass sales of our star players, United fans to their great credit have continued to support the team in large numbers both home and away and deserved quite a bit more than they got in the transfer window.

In the interests of common decency,I think fans as fully contributing partners in the DUFC set-up are fully entitled to explanations from Ray, the Chairman and CEO for such an under-whelming performance in the window - its the very least they deserve. What happened to the "exciting " player that was suggested or the 3 to complete the jigsaw. Why are clubs with a much smaller fan base who have £10M or so less in player sales able to out recruit us. How many targets turned us down and what were their reasons. Why have we allowed 2 summer signing to leave, etc.

Given we have a website, our own media outlet, our own communications officer, a manager who does regular press updates and a chairman who is very keen on talking whenever money is required from fans, it is an absolute affront to fans to be ignored at this time when fans have been failed. Tell us even in general terms what went wrong and why - its the least you must do. Its hard to believe that an organisation can be so successful in alienating their customers.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Communications

Excellent post but alas you're pissing against the wind, the people's club has transformed into one mans personal cash cow and his lack of spine means he'll never face up to the fans and the mess he's masterminded.

He may put out a press release around the time the season ticket renewals go out but he won't answer any fans questions

The fans bailed him out this season but he'll see a massive drop off in the summer after the diabolical budget he's given Ray,I caved in this season but there isn't a chance in hell I'll renew after yesterday.

Re: Communications

Been a season ticket holder for longer than I care to remember and I did what you did AP last year I caved in but I certainly won't do it this year either until he goes or we have adequate answers to the many questions that have been asked if that doesn't happen it will be just away days for me next year

Re: Communications

I didn't get a season ticket for two reasons: I was sick of feeling obliged to go to Tannadice out of duty, I only went because it seemed like a waste of money not to, I didn't actually WANT to go. The other reason is the loyalty angle that the club use every year. So, I ignored the loyalty aspect, I said to myself, "Come on, SELL this season ticket to me, make me WANT to buy it, tell me why I should want it other than loyalty, make it sound like a hot item that I should buy over and above other things of equivalent cash value. I think that now is definitely the time where the Chairman has to speak to the fans. Even an ArabZONE free to all interview would be something. I want to know the clubs plans, the vision for next season et cetera. Ann Budge gives regular blog updates via the Hearts website about the goings ons, she's really comprehensive. We need that type of communication again, it's something we've sorely lacked since the late Derek Robertson stood down.

Excellent post.

Ann Budge is miles ahead of most Chairperson's in Scottish football.

Sticks up for her club in the media, and has a clear strategy in place for her club to take them forward.

You've nailed exactly how the fans should feel and we all know come renewal time ST will reappear with a statement then disappear again.

Our club has gone from being run as a fan friendly club to a dark secretive family money making machine that cares not a jot about the punters experience.

This is the time to make a stand

Re: Communications

both sides are cemented into intransigient positions here. The rights and wrongs have been debated to death if anything is to change we have to look to the future. It may be a good idea for all fans groups not just the fed to come together with a noble gesture. If we win the title( extremly long shot) or go up in the play offs(50 /50 IMO) the offer should go out the the chairman to go up an collect the trophy and let bygones go.

This is brilliant !!!!!!

Great idea, send ST to collect the trophy where we can stone him, throw bricks, rotten vegetables, cats and anything else to inflict pain!

Im with you on this 100% get him out on the pitch

Re: Communications

Don't know if anychunt noticed on Setirday, but at about 14 mins inta the game, the polis and stewards started throwin a few boys oot, that were in the JK right on the aisle next to the ET upper.

We assumed they might've been hurlin abuse towards ST and co.

Didna think anymore of it till my brother-in-la who watched the game on Alba, sayed that that round the 14 min mark, the TV camera focused on Thommo and co. and you saw him speakin to his missus and Mike Martin aboot the carfufle. He's gonna let me see it later.

Anybody in the ET Upper or JK say anythin aboot this.

Re: Communications

It's the Jerry Kerr Eight I'm bothered about.
A pathetic (in numbers) group of guys in the very corner.
Singing supportive non-offensive songs was their only crime but two guys were removed, first one then another, towards the end of the first half at the intervention of first stewards then police.
I was in section B & saw it all. What was going on?
This had nothing to do with hospos or whatever in ETU which appears to be a different issue altogether even tho only spitting distance away.

Re: Communications

Might be a good thing ST getting abuse from the JK, we might actually shut that stand and save money by closing it, no stewards, no catering no ticket collectors, save money!!!

I've never understood the reasoning behind creating a separated more sparsely congregated support.

I'd get as many vocal fans together and create the best atmosphere you possibly can.

Chucking the lads to the most un influential part of the stadium possible who were after creating an atmosphere baffled me more. Ultra and Co.

View fae the JK is good but that's it. Leg room is OK if yer 5ft 2". Been chucked oot the upper East Stand for just  being vocal and placed in the lower. If you don't want vocal fans in places then put us all together.

Doesn't add up at all.

Give me a standing section please!

Re: Communications

Put the singing section under the radio/tv gantry (when possible). There might only be about 20 of them but at least it would sound slightly atmospheric on broadcasts. It currently sounds dead as fuck as there's zero fans nearby.

The club have ripped off a few of my ideas (without a shred of acknowledgment) so hopefully they rip this one too.

Trying to remember ANY Chairman who has lifted a Cup in the history of football.

If we win the Championship it's Willo Flood's Cup to hold aloft (unless Dillon's playing that is).

We probably won't., of course.

Agreed mate. We were stuck in the worst part of the ground. No wonder it didn't work.

Its daft as fuck, bothers me seeing empty seats all over the ground yet we still open 3 stands? why? away fans should be in the shed at all times, shows how bad a support comes to us on tv (if theres ever any highlights) and keep home support in East and GF. There should no requirement to open the JK or Fair play till the play offs

Re: Communications

When you think about it yeah, Affshore's right, JK not really needed except for a very few occasions this season & that's coming from someone who's been enjoying watching from the JK this season after many seasons GFU centre.
