Persevering with playing Toshney out of position (and compounding it by playing him not 100% fit).
Dropping Robson despite the lad being part of a backline that had fostered 6 clean sheets in a row (our best run in years).
Bringing Dixon back in without (again) having to fight for his jersey despite having been crap for 2 years now.
Bringing Murdoch in without having to fight for his jersey.
Harshly dropping Telfer after just 1 poor game.
Starting VDV on his own upfront v Hibs.
Continuing to play with zero width.(and thus further exposing our struggling fullbacks).
These are all big factors in why we have hit the buffers of late.
He has to take his share of the blame imo.
Needs to find out his best XI and formation and quickly.

Agreed. Back to basics. Tope wide left from the start would be a step in the right direction. A new wide player would also help. Andreu has also completely lost his way recently and is getting picked on reputation alone.

Telfer showed up Murdoch today. We were a different team after that switch. And I was willing to give dixon the benefit of the doubt but Robson needs to be first choice now at LB.
Why RM chose to drop the two young lads after being involved in so much of the long unbeaten run is beyond me.

Toshney will prove his undoing, , he'sgot a massive hard on for him fir some bizarrre reason
Toshney and Murdoch are absolutely garbage and not good enough to play for us.
Paul Dixon.....it's over for him

Toshney is the biggest waste of a transfer fee since Mathie.
Dixon is the worst LB we've had in my time watching United, shame as he left a hero.
Spittal is just purely awful.
Fraser is a big girl.
Murdoch is nothing special, can anyone honestly be surprised?
What has happened to Flood recently?
Andreu is being played way outta position, if we are playing two up he has to be one of them.
All of these points come down to the man in the chair, Ray McKinnon, you may well be being found out big time as a manager.
Four Dundonians playing in a United shirt today and the only one showing any heart was the one who is well publicized as a Dundee fan, sad times.

Mostly agree, but then the anti Spittal stuff? Once again we lost three goals when he wasn't on the park. And came back well when he was

The boy is a passenger who hides when on the field, that is a fact, how he has had so much time in Uniteds first team shows how far we have fallen.

Murdoch starting after last 2 games is a head scratcher.
Dixon is finished boys have been saying this for ages.
Toshneys seems to be getting worse and us playing with a broken toe?
Flood has went downhil after saying on interview we needed to sign players.
I think murray done well today.
Robson tope and telfer must start on saturday in dingwall.

RM saying on Arabzone interview post match a bid is in for an un-named player.

Is Ray's loss of form our biggest worry now.
His post match suggests that 6,7 or even 8 players were not where they should be mentally or physically and he'll need time to figure out why. I'm not sure what that actually means but the clues I can give him are (a) you're not selecting your best players (b) you're not playing some of your players in their best positions (c) your tactics are not playing to some of your players strengths (d) you're not testing your opponents weaknesses and (e) your team doesn't attack nearly enough to win games.
Ray seems to think that the back-to-back defeats (Dumbarton & Hibs) have damaged confidence but the run of poor games stretches back much further. Since the last time we played Queens (and won 4-1), United have only scored 6 goals in 9 games. In those games they had a total of 35 shots (only) on target and 32 corners, not nearly enough to secure wins - they need double or treble these numbers. Incredibly in 5 of these games they actually had the same/more bookings than shots on target and in 3 they had more bookings than corners (26 bookings for the 9 games).Priorities need to change
Fraser in his post match suggested United and the manager don't like Durnan playing up top - "its not the way we want to play". If aerial power is an asset why not capitalise on it. Queens scored twice today from long free kicks into the box. They also scored from winning the ball in the centre circle and making 2 quick "Forward" passes to set up their striker. If its ok for us to go long/direct when chasing a game late on because that considered to be the best way of scoring why aren't we doing so earlier in games. Fans like goals and goal mouth action.
Ray should have spotted these shortcomings long before now - fans already have. The only sure way of getting out of this league is to win it and to win it, we'll need to be far more positive and attack minded than we've been in the past 10 games. Hopefully Ray will up his game.

Boys talk on here and at Tannadice / in the boozer that Fraser is the best attacking footballer we have, that may well be the case but if you don't have any heart all the talent in the world means absolutely fuck all.
The boy has no heart whatsoever, that was obvious last season, in this division the main thing you need is guts.
I said somewhere that Mckinnon may well be being found out as a manager, sadly I genuinely believe that, he is falling into the trap that Wanknamara fell into after he sold GMS & Armstrong, he tried to play players in positions that they were not suited to and never will be.
Andreu out wide? passenger. He terrorised defenses in this league and the Premier playing off the striker or up top.
Fraser out wide? He is so one footed he makes it easy for full backs.
He (McKinnon) never rated JJ, not many people did, but at least he was/is a natural winger, why get rid of the only natural wide player we have without properly replacing him? Tope so far just looks a more expensive version of him, pace and that is about it, pointless signing.
He (McKinnon) was in the papers saying he will not be rushed into making signings, you've had since may to single out positions and players we need filled, if you don't know by now, you never will mate.
He was happy enough to rush signing two holding midfielders and three number 10's though.
He must have been after Murdoch for Raith as he singled him out early doors, *NEWSFLASH* Ray, players you hope to sign for Raith Rovers are not the calibre of player Dundee United should be signing.

Amen RR. You are my bro!!!
Scott Fraser is in the top half dozen BALL players in the league, but without application, heart and work rate he is nothing. Especially out of position. RM sadly obviously feels he cannot trust him to dominate and influence games apart from a little flash here and a little flash there. When you keep a clean sheet, that little flash here and there can snatch you a win and that is why we got to the top of the league and then it all went pop. I for one was not fooled when we got there.
RM was a great player and by all accounts was the star pupil in his coaching badge classes. Whilst it is the in thing to play 4231, you can only play that system if you have the players to do it and since losing Armstrong, Cifti, Gauld, GMS and Robertson, we lost that ability, but for 2 years and 3 management teams, we have tried to persist in it. Why???
We've so many wanna be number 10s and so little natural width, that surely we should be looking at a 4141 or something to try and impose ourselves on teams in this division? We should have scented blood after that magnificent first goal yesterday, but no, we let them get back into it. Totally baffling!!!

Whilst i'm at it.
Binning Cammy Smith and Tope Obadeyi to finance the moves for Mikelssen and Nicholls.
Neither better.Possibly even both worse.
Mikkelsen for Smith fair enough as it gave us a different option but Nicholls for Tope
Cutting of his nose to spite his face with that one imo

Putting Nicholls at RB whilst Durnan was put up front was ludicrous! The boy didn't have a clue what he was doing.
