Ex-England, Villa and Watford manager dies aged 72.
A bit of a figure of fun following the Impossible Dream documentary but had a bloody good club record.

Seemed like a good, decent man and as GC2 says had an incredible record in club management.
He was treated absolutely shamefully by the english gutter press.
May he RIP

excellent club manager, you can criticize his footballing style and terrible record as england manager, he still didn't deserve the media treatment at the time. .
always seemed like one of the good guys, saw a clip of him once where a fan was racially abusing an england player and he politely bollocked the guy. also he helped a lot of players going through tough times - gascoigne, tony adams, paul mcgrath and others.
It was his honesty and humility which made "the impossible job" the greatest football documentary ever, two traits sadly missing from football today

He seemed to be a decent man who allowed himself to be ridiculed by sanctioning access to film crews. And of course the English press build the national side up to look for scapegoats at a later point.
Taylor also employed Charles Reep in the early eighties to support his vision of direct football.

Aye the same press that vilified him will now be paying tribute to him.
Seemed like a good guy and as already has been said was a very good club manager.
He was a good pundit to listen to on the radio too.

He was unlucky to be England manager at the wrong time he had players like lee sharp carlton palmer paul parker and tony dorigo in his starting 11 all shite compared to the last 20 years where qualification has been a breeze. As Pat qoutes above possession and patience are myths goals come from mistakes my kind of manager.
