January 10th 2007 Dundee United sign defender Sean Dillon from Irish Champions Shelbourne for an undisclosed fee.
10 years on he is club Captain,a Scottish Cup winner, has represented the club in Europe and in 3 other Finals.

He has made 339 appearances for the club and scored 7 goals. He has made the most appearances of any Non-Scot for DUFC and is in the top 10 overall for most appearances.
Whatever your thoughts on his abilities (or lack thereof) it would be churlish to not offer him anything other than congratulations on reaching such a landmark.

Was a decent player for us most of that 10 years that should be remembered. May have went backwards more recently but still richly deserves the testimonial he's getting.
Be interesting to see where his next club takes him.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him stay here as a coach if it become available to him and he was interested.

Do we really need another coach though?

One of the good guys, I met him at Glasgow Airport a few days after the 2010 Scottish Cup Final and he was totally sound.
As a player, to spend 10 years at one club these days is almost unheard of, and he deserves his testimonial. Solid spell at centre half when houston was in charge, including a brilliant moment in the photo above.

You would need to ask Mr McKinnon that

Always feel Dillon gets a rough time off supporters, particularly in recent years. Has served the club well and always puts in 100%. Cant see him getting a new deal as a player though, the way Ray talks about Toshney makes me think he is the replacement 'utility man'.
Congratulations on 10 years, and heres hoping he gets a decent turnout at his testimonial

One of the nicest people you'll meet, always had time for him! He has lost bits of his ability but there is still games where he is brillant! I'd like him to stay as coach/player role, seems to take control of the half time drills ect, silver kisser hard to not like the guy!

Very unusual in the modern game to have 10 years service, probably shouldn't have got his last contract but he's been a good ambassador for the club.

He's been a good solid player for United. I'm going to his testimonial dinner at the end of January, looking forward to it.

I've spoken to him many times, or at least listened to him.
All the best, Sean!

We certainly need something!
