Re: Hibs v Utd - Friday 6th January (7.45pm)

Most of what's been said about the game I'd repeat and agree with. Thought Tope and Cammy Smith showed a bit of promise when they were on the park together, but Hibs had taken the foot off the gas by then.

The new boy didn't get near the ball, or got no service. Full backs were poor but got little cover: most players were simply off form, but the formation and selection was also flawed.

I'm wondering if we'll make any attempts to bolster the squad further: will the club be thinking second place is good enough?

Re: Hibs v Utd - Friday 6th January (7.45pm)

Most teams in this league are set up to lump the ball to a big striker and so our back four have been able to cope with that easily. Last night Hibs played like a Premier Division team with a pacy front 3 who horribly exposed our back 4's lack of pace. As bad as our full backs were (Im in the Robson camp after watching that), they had absolutely no cover and were being asked to push on to give us width. Caught by a ball in behind every time. Crazy stuff.

McKinnon waited until their second goal before making any attempt to change it. Everybody else I'm sure seen the problems after about 2 minutes. It had shades of Mixu about it tbh.

Having watched most games home and away IMO we are just about the 2nd best team in the league. But clearly miles behind the best. Hibs are a top 6 team , which top flight sides would not have taken Commons or Murphy.  Its time for cool heads and working out a game plan for QOS.

2nd might not be good enough though mate.

Even if we beat the 3/4th place team in the 1st play-off tie i wouldn't feel confident of us defeating a Hamilton,Killie,ICT or Kilmarnock over 2 legs going by how poor we've been for weeks now.

The team needs at least 3 players in.

You may well be correct Tek that 2nd may not be enough but that is where we are at the moment . RM said on the radio last night that he will be bringing in another player hopefully this plus Mickellson will give us strikeforce to keep us well ahead of the pack and increase our chances in the playoffs. Its important the fans stay onside.

Very true, Beharder. Some of the nonsense being shouted last night, I'll put down to drink.

No use getting new strikers in unless we drastically improve the service we give them. Think we need a real creative as well as a mindshift from the rest of the team
