Cierzniak, Watson, Morris, Fojut, Dillon, Rankin, Paton, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven, Erskine, Ciftci.

Subs - Szromnik, Spittal, Connolly, Telfer, Dow, Smith ,Townsend

That's the starting XI i wanted to see.No Bilate and no other forwards on the bench though.

Full Time -

Dundee Utd 1 - 0 Partick Thistle

A home win,a clean sheet, and deep into October we are only 1 point off top.

So why am i not happy?

Maybe ur just a miserable cunt?

Seriously, we've still not really found any form yet, but still picking up wins which is a good sign.

I'm 'hard to please',rather than 'miserable' you cheeky bastard.

We are doing well in the league,no question....but...and i'm afraid there is a but.

I think some of our wins are papering over the cracks and i also think we are carrying a bit of luck about us tbh.

Remember last season even when we weren't winning, our fans often said 'somebody's gonna take a doing soon'?And we were right once it clicked we were dishing out hidings weekly for 2 months.

It's kinda the opposite this season for me.We are grinding out wins+keeping clean sheets, but carrying a certain amount of luck about us and i reckon we are due a doing ourselves tbh.One of these days some team will take their chances against us if we continue to play so poorly.

Then again maybe i am just a miserable cunt.

Spot on to be fair, I'm just hopeful we can find some form before the luck runs out or we get that doing.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

I'm just hoping we maybe just soldier on till January and hopefully remain in the Top 3.

Then hopefully we can get in a forward, and an attacking full back (preferably a left back).

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

Definitely need a striker in, but then we've all known that for a while.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

we need a striker but we wont get anyone until we get rid of someone as our squad is too big we are already over budget.

Today was terrible. How anyone can be happy with that is beyond me? Yeah we got 3 points JUST but it wasnt deserved.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

we're up at the top because of our defence...last season ot was because of our forwards

6 clean sheets out of 11 is a very good stat.

I'm still not totally convinced about the back 4 either though tbh.

Agree Stobes, I hope Jackie's not saying the same thing behind close doors that he's saying on camera and radio tonight.

If so he's way off IMO, particularly re application.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

I think its time to make some serious changes to the starting team too.

Connolly, Telfer and Spittal need a chance to show they're better than what we've got IMO.

It won't happen as rightfully people can say you don't change a winning team but ffs, these boys were brought it to challenge for first team football, its why they moved here and I don't think they're getting an opportunity.

Spittal and Connolly showed more in one nice move today than the rest did in 90 mins.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

Bit blooto at the moment but here goes.

Scrappy game. Thistle werenae very good and we werenae much better. Think we played much better in the last 15 minutes, esp. after we scored.

Result was what everybody expected, but the manner wasnae. Don't get me wrong, think it was a penalty. Had a few beers with a few Thistle fans in the toon. They felt very hard done by.

Best move of the match was the little rally between GMS and Connolly where got behind their defenders in the box.

Shifty showed some great control in bringing the ball done from the long passes, but he was too isolated upfront, and it left him with little options. Then when the other guys were near, they must've been invisible to him because he chose on too many occasions to be the one man band and ended up with eff-all. Worst example of it was after we were 1 up, there was a move where Rankin was running thru the middle beside, and if he'd passed well .....

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 18th October (3pm)

Cant really add anything. Today was pish apart from....

The link up between Connolly, Spittal and GMS in the last minute was the best bit of football we've played this season by a mile. It shouldve been a goal.

Too much commotion
