Probably the most important win this season has been Hibs at Tannadice, a six-pointer.
Simon Murray came on for VdV on 68 mins.
On 73 mins we scored the winning goal from a penalty.
The game was going nowhere, they'd missed a penalty and a goalless draw looked likely.
Anyone remember?

I dont think many will have forgot just yet...

They are not playing staff.

Some folk just love to moan and can't wait to get on their soapbox. It's funny how Affshore's return coincides with a poor defeat.

Hardly after a defeat all have been mentioned in the past few months after wins whether its here mad social media or the pub. Nothing has changed no even 14 unbeaten id want them to stay.

What reasons would you give for getting rid?

Re: it finally happened

Bowers, these are fair points and people can post what they want.
The one thing I would say though is that this board sprung up in part as an alternative to mad.
People seem to prefer the focus to stay on the football on this site and not really on the boardroom.
That's not to say we don't care, just that it did get boring on mad that every thread descended into the same thing.
Looking at mad now, the main thread has been hijacked and it's like a step back to a year ago.
I'd imagine that's influenced a few comments moments on this board as some of the posters don't want to go down that road.
Most of these posters as well, realise that we do need a striker and a winger and that people have been saying it for months. They just don't want to go back to talking about ST etc I also would say that most don't still want him in charge either. The hope for most would be that we get promoted at first time of asking, then we are a more attractive proposition for someone to buy us.

St needs no explaining been done to death.
DS i see no need for him as ST is said to be taking more to do with the club since ne jets deal went to pot. That was the purpose of him being brought in. Again been done to death.
JS paying him to do a job that he has failed at and caused more annoyance amongst fans id say..

Instead of these high earners they threaten to cut the ground staffs hours.

The club are tied into a contract at standrews which they seamingly looked at getting out of in the summer im not sure hiw much is spent on it but ive said it for a while we should have a facility in Dundee.

What detail have you got that confirms a contract that we are tied to?  My close relation worked at St Andrews until October last year, and the belief there was that we had a yearly deal, therefore if you know how long we were tied to using the playing facilities at the University, can you please inform us.

My understanding was that we were leaving St Andrews and had intimated that to the University, but a condition of Raymond becoming manager was that we renew our yearly deal.

Of course, I may have been misguided, therefore would welcome any confirmation that you can offer underlining why we are tied to use St Andrews.

Re: it finally happened

That's what I know Pat, St Andrews isn't cheap & the Club was looking around for alternatives but Ray wanted to stay at St. Andrews & I've also heard it's a plus point for new players coming in.

Not really concrete evidence to make someone redundant.

OK dokes. So you don't know what he does but you want rid.

I know where you are coming from but if you wanted the club to cut back to a championship level operation then there's a he'll of a lot to be cut back. St Andrews would be gone straight off. Development squad decimated. Coaching staff cut to a minimum and we really struggle to attract big players. You think we'd get tony andreu if we we'd cut the above?

We needed a balance and the chairman hasn't done a bad job in all honesty (though I can see things that could be done better)

With regards to southern position, I don't know either but I'm going to guess that part of his job is to cover the role of spence anderson of secretary? I am not sure the position has been replaced? I'd also guess he is working hard on the business side of things - looking for investment and various money making schemes. For instance, who negotiated the mcewan fraser deal?

The impression I get from many who don't like southern being involved is that they presume he is strutting about tannadice using tenners to light cigars.

Do you know the going rate for the position out of interest?

*note - on companies house, Andrew fraser is the company secretary but I've never heard of him

Thats the thing, NO ONE knows what he does but he wasnt needed before so why is he needed now, especially at championship level ? Yes its a guess that hes took over from Spence Anderson, As far as sponsorships, who negotiated all our deals before Southern came to the club??

Remember he was took on to fill in for Thompson when he was meant to be in OZ.

I wouldnt cut training facilities or youth development, youth development has made us, erm, ST millions over the years, would make no business sense to stop the youth or our training facilities that players over the years have highlighted as being a major part of the reason they've signed for us.

I dont think anyone thinks hes strutting about lighting cigars from tenners, but what we are all asking is what does he do? What is his place in the club seeing as he was meant to fill in when ST wasnt here?

Could not tell you what the going rate would be for his position but to hazard a guess i would say be close to a 6 figure salary plus expenses.

Fuck i thought this was a football board where people can air their opinions and I thought id get involved is that ok??? am i not allowed to post if we get beat? Got nearly as many posts as you and been a member longer than yourself, i dont get on here much to be fair but i dont turn up just because we got beat ffs  Listen, the Spence and Southern issue has been talked about constantly on ALL united forums, go have a look at Mad and East, people asking the same questions, what are they doing? Could their wages be spent otherwise? Cant blame paying supporters for asking these questions

I know the Southern/Spence issue has been talked about constantly. That's exactly my point. It's a waste of time discussing it as there is no-one with any knowledge of their roles/responsibilities. That doesn't mean they are not doing anything and should be sacked!

Your actually right it is a waste of time, it was brought up by someone on here wanting to double Jim 'twitter hard man' Spence's wages!  people argue they are doing a worthwhile job, others question what they do. No one can really say can they...

Haha heres me thinking my comment of doubling spences money would be seen as tongue in cheek.

In all honesty, I'm just bored of the whole sack them comments. We need to remain as much of a premiership club as possible in my view, to attract the correct quality of player in the door.

ST has made a decision on how to allocate the money and I don't think it's going too badly, overall. We are near to hibs who are massively out spending us and looking to add a couple of good quality players to this side. ST/southern/spence cannot be getting grief every time the team lose.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
