If we don't feel sure he's worth offering a deal after his trial then don't offer him one.

Sammon to united to be concluded tomorrow

Fingers crossed he's the man to bang in a few over the festive period

Bit underwhelmed with this one to be honest! Happy to be proved wrong though 😐

Be positive, he will get goals in this league! He's no ciftci but if it means we can get another player instead of just ciftci i.e. A winger!

So effectively a 4 game trial to see if he warrants a longer loan (or permanent move). Not a bad way of doing it. If it works great, if he's push, little lost and still time to go get Nadir or similar in.

He doesnt seem to have scored many in his games down south albeit a much better league that what he will be playing in for us..
Has played a fair amount for hearts this season 19 times according to soccerbase sso looks like he will be fit and ready to go which is a good thing.

The way I'm looking at is, he's here for a month if he's pish he'll get punted back to hearts, but imagine if he scored 3 in 4, what a bonus that would be and imagine he would be a lot cheaper that ciftci leaving us money to get a winger in

It now also give us the option to play 2 up front instead of 1, it's a option I'd imagine ray would have found very hard to reject

By all accounts it appears Sammon has been pretty pish for Hertz; but he scored a lot of goals for Killie so let's see how he goes - as has been mentioned, if he is pish then he'll be punted back to Tyncastle.
I don't see this as meaning we'll change to 2 up front. If Sammon can hold the ball better than anyone else who's played up there then that might be all the change we need to get Andreu and Fraser in the goals again

In football its about the club being right for a player in terms of teammates and manager. Dodds was on the scrapheap at the sheep, wasn't most peoples cup of tea when the signing was going through but within a week he was the main man! Sometimes a fresh start and new challenge can just be the key to a change in fortunes.
I'll give the lad all the support for the month and see how it goes. much better than throwing a two year deal at him aka Mario / Darko style.

A lot of sense being talked here.
There is not a lot of risk at all involved in taking Conor Sammon for a month.
We don't have ANY physical players from midfield to front. He is at the very least a big lumbering, strong, forward.
If he scores goals terrific....if he doesn't and is poor we simply send him back and still have a fortnight to get another striker in.
One other thing (that Mass Debates alluded too above) the lad has been a boo-boy target at both Derby and now Hearts.
Sometimes a move to a new enviroment can do a player wonders.A happy and supportive dressing room,Manager and support can make a player feel 'wanted' and strikers more than any other players need to be playing with confidence.Sometimes they just need an arm round them.
Need to get right behind him and if he hits the ground running v St.Mirren then he could become an instant fans favourite.
I don't think he should be judged on just goals he scores (or doesn't). If he becomes a true focal point then the supporting players should have far more joy in forward areas

This for me. It's no halibut goals.
If I remember his time at killie, he knew where the net was.
I'll get my coat
He could be the Sole striker we've been looking for
I hope this emergency loan works out for Cath Thompson cos if not it could mak 'er ill.

There's nothing there," Cathro said of the speculation. I can understand it from their point of view, if that's the type of player they're looking for."From our side, no, and [he'll be in Friday's squad to face Dundee]. He's a strong player, a very focused guy, a top professional."His work every day has been exemplary, so there's no call for him to need support [after the booing]. Trust me, he's fine and he's an important player."

Looks like the papers have embellished a story from rumours on here and Twitter.
