Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Tough game (again) - would like to think with the backing of circa 2,000 Arabs as Phobia says, we can keep the kettle boiling.  Hopefully the team can click and produce a "glittering" performance.

Really really looking forward to a carABZ boozy Christmas train away day!

All aboard......

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Hibs don't play till 5.15pm tomorrow (away to Morton on ALBA) so we have a big chance here to go 3 points clear even for a couple of hours and really heap the pressure on them for the first time this season,as so far we've always been playing catch-up.

Is Murray still out? When are VDS and Dixon back? All very quiet on the injury front (as per).

Last weeks performance was poor and we will really need to step it up tomorrow at a hard place to get a result.

Some of our attackers need to start chipping in with some goals.Obadeyi only 2 goals all season...he needs to push on now and build on last weeks goal.

VDV hasn't scored since 20th September.

Cammy Smith hasn't scored unbelievably since August 27th.

Spittal NO goals all season and in fact hasn't scored since the 5-1 win v Killie back in January.

We need more from these guys, much more. The weight of expectation can't just fall on the shoulders of Tony Andreu (who isn't even a forward himself).

My team would be.

Bell

Toshney
Durnan
Edjenguele
Robson

Telfer
Flood

Fraser
Andreu
VDV

Obadeyi

Subs - Zwick,Spittal,Dillon,Murdoch,Smith,
Donaldson,Coote

TEK's team is VdV for Spittal from the Ayr game & I wouldn't argue with that.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

I think the SPFL rulebook brought about changes from the Scottish League rules that a trialist can make three league appearances for Championship sides: if this is the case, perhaps we'll see Felitciano Z on the bench tomorrow, but the rules are such a minefield that I'd be afraid we made an arse of the application to do so.

I'd go with the same side as started in Ayr, giving them a chance to put in a performance this time around.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Very hard game tomorrow, team is quite settled with 1 change possibly in the attacking area, but it's Fraser, Andreu + 2 and there's not a lot between any of the others at the moment.

Like all games now 3 points is a must.

The only difference I would have would be cammy smith instead of vdv. Failing that is start with smith and bring obadeyi on later if required.

Hopefully another clean sheet and some goals for united as well

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

VDS might be back tomorrow. Should certainly be back next week according to the Tele. Dixon and Murray outside chance for next week so again should be back in a fortnight.

Murdoch seemingly starting tomorrow as is VDV.

Hope thats true Telfer has been playing ok but Murdoch is a better player
VDS same scenario Toshney has been doing ok but VDS is a better fullback
VDV struggling a bit over the last few weeks but still a better player than Spittal

Don't think there'll be too many empty seats in this stand come 5 past 3 anyway. Really filling up.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Ref is very poor. Durnan had a great attempt there, though, maybe from his own half.

I think Toshney saved us there.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Refs being very poor is standard unfortunately.  We've not been much better so far.  Games went pretty much how I thought it would, 2 hard sides to break down.

Need Fraser or Andreu to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

4-6-0 in the championship tho 😞 cos right now that's what we're playing.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Toshneys an idiot.

The amount of passes we play which lack the right pace is scary.

Toshney's a liability.

I've said it for months.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

We looked 100x better with 10 men. Changed to a diamond midfield with Flood sitting, Spittal right, Fraser left and Andreu in behind Murray. Andreu played really well 2nd half so it was a pisser with the penalty which to be fair was a good save. You could see Toshneys red card coming a mile off. The ref was shocking again.

Too much commotion

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

I was going to the game after picking my daughter up at Edinburgh airport at lunchtime. As luck would have it, her flight was delayed 4 hours, so ended up listening to Sportsound in the car and costing me 8 quid.

Re: Raith Rovers v DUFC - Starks Park - Sat 17 Dec 2016

Thought we were unlucky the day. Looked better after toshney saw red, Fraser moving into the middle with Willo behind him worked a treat at times letting him do his stuff centrally as a pose to being wasted on the wing, Murray came on and was lively, Andreu was better second half, Spittal works hard but just not sure what he brings as an attacking player, thought Telfer was poor today hid from the ball most of the game.

Still joint top, good result in the end with 10men, buzzing for St Mirren at home next week!

Good summation for me, Andy. But didn't think Telfer was poor. Overall,an acceptable point given the way the game might have gone.

Toshney was playing well until red card. The 2nd booking was never a yellow the 1st was typical Toshney MOm yet again Durnan

Due a stinker of a result and dodged it for now. Good pen save fae their keeper and cracking brave goal line heeder by Durnan  I think?
2400 was mair than the home support and patient again but to no avail.
