Will change ever happen

I honestly think we are now away to see Celtic winning EVERY domestic trophy for the next five to seven years. Realistically they should have done this over the past four, but there manager choices were questionable and they never really needed to spend any real money with the other side of their arse being reconstructed after death.

Now they have a seemingly decent manager with a pedigree of working with big budgets at a top 6 side in England they are loosening the purse strings from their CL war chest. This is to counter the other arse cheek being in the same league now.

The Rangers are IMO pulling the big boy routine but haven't got a pot to piss in and will continue to be miles off the pace, each trophy less season that passes the larger the gap will be become through CL money compared to europa league (which they'll struggle to qualify for too)

So how or when will the time come when total domination by only 1 team becomes too much and some sort of leveller is brought into effect??  or am I just being hopeful that one day we might have some actual top flight excitement (including us of course)

Re: Will change ever happen

Can't see any change soon. Even finishing bottom of their CL group they still get millions more than all the other teams put together. Worst top flight league in Europe in terms of competitiveness  surely?

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Re: Will change ever happen

I've spent some amount of time agonising over the state of Scottish football over the past few years. Every recent change and action which has been made or taken has been to the detriment of the game, in my opinion of course.

The one thing which bugs me most, though, is Stewart Milne's Aberdeen taking sides with Celtic after the Rangers debacle, and the overall failure to alter the voting structure, where two clubs could outvote the other ten in the top division. The authorities always hankered for a return to what they saw as the best scenario, whereby two teams dominate the rest.

I reckon Aberdeen thought they were going to step into the discarded Ibrox shoes, and didn't want to take the opportunity to alter key structures.

But now instead of a duopoly, we have a monopoly for the foreseeable future.

U honestly think Celtic will win the treble for the next 7 years? They have only won the treble 3 times in there entire history of about 125 years

There was never such a disparity between them and the rest of Scottish Football as there is now though (in financial terms and in terms of support).

They probably WON'T win everything in sight over the next few years but probably will do 10 in a row at which point even their most ardent supporters must think 'what's the point of this?'.

Do the Celtic supporters feel any real joy winning these trophies i wonder.

I think eventually something's got to give and probably would have done years ago (i.e. invitation to play in england) but the sectarian and religious nonsense surrounding both clubs has created a dichotomy whereby the religious aspect of their following has created monster sized clubs in terms of support in this country (and afar) but on the other hand this ongoing status and brand that both clubs wear as if it's a 'badge of honour' is effectively the 'albatross around their neck'.They have created a glass ceiling now by forever being caught in the wee Scottish football fishtank.

My guess is that a new British league/s format will be introduced at some point in the next ten years.

The Rangers and Celtic will be invited to enter at the bottom rung of the ladder and work their way up.

Scottish football will survive but will have to think outside the box a little to keep it vital (Summer football, amalgamate the league cup with irish and welsh sides to make it a British league cup etc etc).

Re: Will change ever happen

The premiership is finished.  There's no point in it when you think about it as the rest are playing for fuck all. Overpriced keech.  Until celtic and the huns fuck off then basically we're all doomed.

I'd agree with most of that, but for Celtic and the Huns leaving. Nobody wants them, but even if that changed, there'd still be an insistence that they field teams in the Scottish system too.

They are part of the Fabric of Scottish Society. Or so we are told.

That is my feeling Pat.

That if/when they finally fuck off we will have Hun/Tim lite foisted on us.

Re: Will change ever happen

That's a good point however you'd still think the majority of knuckleheads on both sides would stick with the big bigots version 1.

Would absolutely love to see them both fucking off, the league would be so competitive it would really see a boom in attendances IMO

Re: Will change ever happen

Dont think if we got shot of them that any teams fans are likely to emulate the old old firms'/Septic Zombie style of vocal vomit.

Hearts and Hibs have a very diluted volume of that so hope it wouldn't grow if their profile & success grew.

Looking at the Scottish Cup winners over the last 35 years there has been a big change in winners as the no hopers/so called diddies have won 16 of the 35.
League system is doomed though as said before.
Maybe an indicator that if we're stuck with the plukey bum cheeks of weegieland more knock out style or seperated league systems are a way forward.
No sure how or what to suggest but if our biggest cup can deliver 16 victories from 35 finals for non  weegie septic plukey zombie bumcheek teams then there is something to consider to break the boring system we endure.

Re: Will change ever happen

This may be the daftest idea ever but what about similar system to the one they use in the super league in Rugby league.  Expand the league.  Play each other home and away once. Split the league and wipe the points Top half go into play offs to decide who's champion.  That's obviously a very simplified example. I'm not saying it would work but just throwing it out there. Need something fresh imo.

A change that works will definitely have to come from an angle that comes from out the box thinking.
