Re: Irn Bru Cup Qf - Dunfermline V Utd - Sat 12/11/16 (12.30pm)

When we were in the old 1st division I'm sure we played Dunfermline in the semi final of the B&Q cup which was at East End Park.

3-0 United was the result.

The semis won't be neutral, it's the Irn Bru, not the Jules Rimet.
Nothing against Livi but I hope TNS get thro today, an away day in Oswestry beckons.

I think Livi will triumph comfortably today, sticking my neck on the line. TNS have European experience right enough, but in the quality at the top of our third division is better than the best in the Welsh League.

So put your money on TNS!!!!

You're right with your bet Pat, TNS are favourites.
I saw them at Forfar, they had a Kiwi Jon Daly type who scored their three goals.
Why THE NEW SAINTS? A sponsor in a previous life was Total Network Solutions & the team was named such. TNS was subsequently taken over by BT, change of name necessary but not change of initials. Oswestry in Shropshire, England where they now play have a notable Saint in their history. So The New Saints it was.

Useless information or what?!

I know a lot of folk want us out of this cup, but I want us to win it, winnings a habit we need to keep going. We should really be winning almost every week in this league (and cup) regardless of what side we put out.

I'm one of the folk who want us out this cup, but as time goes on the rest of your argument could persuade me otherwise. Winning's a good habit, my annoyance is at the way the tournament was and is set up.

Still won't be going to the final if we get there right enough.

To be fair Pat, you've got a point about how the tournament is set up, or more why it is set up that way, but I'm done with the politics in Scottish football. I hate the league set up, the seeding in the league cup, the way we bend over to tv companies, the pathetic standard of officiating and how everything is done to benefit 2 clubs.  Fact is tho, the clubs are happy with it all, yes you get the occasional moan out of 1 of them when some decision goes against them but when it counts they do NOTHING to try and change it.

All I care about now is Utd winning games, why should I care about the rest if the club doesn't?

Truth is if I treated Scottish football or more importantly DUFC like anything else in life I'd never watch another game.

Looks like a better challenge and mair of a novelty to play TNS than St Mirren, or QToS.

TNS away for a decent weekend on it would certainly be my preference.

Rare that we get the preferred draw. Have a feeling we will get St Mirren and have the blip thats due but TNS would be a crackin away trip.

Oswestry's no a bad place. Kinda reminds you of a posh version of Farfir. Bailey Street pedestrianized with plenty boozers and nosh, with a nice squarey at the top with more of the same.

Sure we'd take a  very noisy support to a game like that. Would be the 1st competitive game in ingland for a long time. Since Old Trafford?
