Qots v Dundee Utd

Massive game sat against a team who are not far behind us in the league so we need to take something from this.

Id drop vdv and tope after last week.

Willo looked like he had a knock and also fraser. I thought smith and murray done well oncecame on..

Team for me would be if all fit
Bell
Vds
Durnan
Wullie
Dixon
Willo
Tlfer
Fraser
Andreu
Smit
Murray

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Assuming there are no injuries I want that team but I reckon VDV will play with Topi making way for Smith

Not losing would do me

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Admittedly I haven't seen last couple of games, but from what I've seen I think VDV can do a job up top if used properly.  Sounds like we pumped high balls at him all last week, that's not how we're gonna get the best of him.

I'd go with the team above, but VDV staying in instead of Murray.

Looking forward to gettin back to a game.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

They play on a plastic pitch remember.

I'd play a side with that in mind.

Even more important the ball goes to feet and we play boys that can do that on plastic.

Hate plastic pitches, lack of real tackling and the unnatural bounce and run of the ball make it almost a different sport.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Queen of the South's last 6 results.

The Rangers 5 Qots 0
Qots 0 Hibs 0
Dumbarton 0 Qots 0
Qots 0 Morton 5
Ayr Utd 1 Qots 0
Raith 1 Qots 0

Played 6
Lost 4
Drew 2
Won 0
Goals For 0
Goals Against 12

Never mind a draw.

If we have any designs on winning this league outright we play a strong attacking side.We go there. We win,and we start putting a gap between us and Queens.

My team would be.

Bell

VDS
Durnan
Edjenguele
Dixon

Telfer
Flood

Fraser
Andreu
Smith

VDV

Subs - Zwick,Robson,Dillon,Obadeyi,Murray,
Spittal,Toshney

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Murray is what he is and being out for a few weeks might get a reaction from him, if he doesn't start I'm not bothered lol

But Cammy must start

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

I'd forgot they play on plastic. That throws up freak results.

Looking forward to this one, a different ground from the usual, and a lovely town.

Didn't manage to the 2012 LC game at Palmerston, but good memories of cup games down there in 85 and 2005. We've got a good record in Dumfries, and overall against QoS, 54 years since they've beaten us at their ground.

Quite a lot of good pubs in the town too.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

I'd be happy with VDV playing up front as long as the final ball isn't a hopeful cross into the area. I think he needs fed to feet from deep with French Tony, Fraser and Tope/Cammy Smith buzzing about

I'd be good with this.
Falkirk deliberately set up last week to allow us space down the flanks but pack the middle. A lot of teams in this division will. Championship teams generally come with 2 bruising centre halfs and slow fullbacks that are decent at defending. We don't have a physical presence in the box. It's how I'd set up to play us as we aren't scoring from many headed crosses as it stands.
What they can't handle is when we go direct, at pace, up their gut.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Not many in this photo from the last game likely to be starting today: some no longer at the club.

A fantastic goal from VdV last time out, wonder if that will sway Ray?

The problem seems to be accommodating the wealth of talent we have behind a main striker....... which we don't really have.

I expect only one change at most today. But probably none, even although Tope and VdV weren't too effective last week. VdV kept in as he is able to provide a bit of skill if left with space, Tope getting a start as it's on plastic.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Played ok, game was in general quite slow and one paced I thought. Fraser and Andreu created plenty, Telfer did well also. Defence decent enough, goal was soft to concede tho, albeit shouldn't have stood.

Atmosphere in our end superb today.
Jamie Hamills still a prick.
Striker in in Jan and we'll win the league.
Plastic pitches should be banned, absolutely the cause of injuries.
Great win and day out.
Ilarios in Kincardine still the best chippy around, enjoying that right now.

Mostly agree with this: unsure why QoS goal shouldn't have stood.

The bloke who owns Ilarios lives 200 yards from me, yet I've never been in his place.

Andreu especially, for his skill and work rate, and Fraser, mind who is 7 years younger, were exceptional.

Plastic picthes are not great.

Almost certain the goal was offside.  Certainly 3 queens boys off when fk was taken and I'm sure the scorer was one of them.

Re: Qots v Dundee Utd

Goals are up now on Arabzone.

All well manufactured and taken. Support sounded great on commentry throughout and seems like I've missed the best away day of the season.
