He was a genius, and that story is absolute bullshit.
Saunders the plank trying to make himself sound interesting to get a gig on the after dinner speaking circuit.

Without doubt he was a genuis mate, seen that yesterday that the story was ever so slightly exaggerated. Still funny as fuck right enough.

I would recommend buying the DVD of, "I Believe in Miracles." It's the feature length documentary about Clough's first 2 years at Nottingham Forest. Brilliant stuff and funny as fuck. Kind of starts where "The Damned United" finishes off.

I'd go as far as to say Nottingham Forest were the English Dundee United, but managed to seal the deal and get over the finishing line, whereas we sadly fell short. BOTH had Managers way ahead of their time. I'd encourage anyone who has not seen them, to watch both films mentioned by LaO. Not long after The Damned United came out, I was staying in Broughty Ferry with pals as a friend from America was over and we were golfing at Carnoustie and St Andrews. We went to The Ship and I could not believe it when sitting at the bar with his best pal growing up was Peter Lorimer. I'd one of the best nights of my life, as he spoke football with us all night freely and openly. The following is also worth a wee watch IMO.

Thats the bbc documentary which is good. Notice underneath on Youtube though is a link to the ITV documentary which was superb.
