There are many bad McNamara decisions, to me the biggest one is the one that cost him his job eventually and cost us our place in the top flight, not fighting to keep GMS & more importantly Armstrong.
Everyone was happy with the signing of McGowan at the time, we cannot pin that one on McNamara.
Townsend being sent away was a head scratcher.
Not changing the formation for the St Johnstone final was just a sign of a bad manager void of any fresh ideas.
Any signing after Fojut was bizarre.
There really are far too many poor decisions too put down in print.

The keeper situation at the start of last season. We could recover to a degree from most of the other howlers except maybe the cup final.
I think if we'd had a competent, experienced keeper in place at the start of last season, we wouldn't have been relegated.
Yeah that's probably # 1 GC and compounded by the Kawashima saga/disaster.
You couldnae mak it up.

I got pelters for voicing my concerns on Mad in the build up to last season when I saw the keeper situation and having first choice CH, s who were 21/22....
A proper Keeper and a mature CH would have seen us easily stay up

Leaving Callum Morris on for about 35 minutes at McDairmid Park when he could barely walk despite having two right backs on the bench (Spark and Wilson) and Dillon who could move to centre half. The decision cost us the game (which we were well on top in) and probably cost Morris his career. He's never been the same player since and is clearly still not right from the injury (he'd barely missed a minute for us before that too). Fuck you Jackie.

Keeper issue combined with donaldson/Durnan as centre backs. No experience in the 3 most key positions and no leaders

Trying to get as much money as possible for himself wasn't really a mistake for him, though was it?
As far as his many errors go, for me they can be divided into two classes:
1) Team selection
2) Mistakes during matches
3) Signings (or not).
lifesanocean hit on two for me, to cover 1 and 2.
1:
Not starting Gomis in the Scottish Cup Final.
2:
Leaving Callum Morris on for about 35 minutes at McDairmid Park when he could barely walk despite having two right backs on the bench (Spark and Wilson) and Dillon who could move to centre half.
For 3, the keeper fuck up at the start of season 15-16 would be my choice, closely followed by letting Keith Watson go.
With hindsight, McNamara should have gone after the 2014 cup final, as he already had many indications on his record that he couldn't cut it. I often thought having Donnelly and Jackson as his management sidekicks did McNamara no favours, they were personal friends rather than part of a team in my eyes, and when things were obviously bad on the park, neither seemed animated in discussion with McNamara.
They were simply 'yes men'.

Looks like chucking it was the plan B no one thought he had.
Did the same at York. When plan B was urgent he ditched the team training and went car shopping in Edinburgh not to mention the plan B train fare caper.
