We've been none too clever with injuries etc - there's the Bilate example where we obviously weren't getting it right. You can even hark back to Callum Morris dragging his leg around him for what....15 minutes at McDairmid Park. Now I hear Toshney may have a broken ankle. So why did he limp off yesterday? Why was he putting weight on an injury like that? Surely we should be over cautious when a player says he can't continue ?

I agree. Sean Dillon had to come round & help Toshney off. I thought they were going to give him a lift but I don't think they even did that. Jeff Clark is apparently a brilliant lad very good at his job I've heard but like you I sometimes wonder about the overall care when you cite Bilate & Morris ( & Dillon in the final, what a f up that was tho tbf it was in a previous era)

Cammy Bell is playing with an injury and will need surgery at some point.

Reckon our desperation hit the ground running with a limited squad is what's done toshney - he's still playing with a broken nose and has been clattered a few times.... ticking time bomb.
Can only hope that will n murdoch are ready for a comeback and aren't rushed back too soon.
Frank at right back and hope that Durnan can pick up some form when paired with big Willie. Tbf Durnan has looked a lot worse than he did at hibs - maybe he's picked up a bit with a leader beside him?
Good that we've got the Stranraer game next week, not that I would take it lightly, but a two-week gap in the league is ideal right now. We can play our best fit XI at Stair Park, leave Flood & Murdoch out to give them another week unless one or either is defo 100% and fancies a game. Telfer & Spittal play 90 mins, back four intact for further familiarity, Simon bag a hat-trick why not? Rest any other niggles & have a full squad for the St. Mirren game bar Toshney sadly.

Looked to me like Jeff was looking for the stretcher and when it didn't appear they just decided to limp away. If he was that bad then someone should have been chasing the stretcher guys round.
Online!
I wouldn't risk anyone from the 1st team next week. Maybe VDS because he needs games but that's about it. Fucking diddy cup really and we are at the bare bones.

Totally agree: happier to be out of that tournament. Play the development squad.

Know what ur saying gents.
Dillon, Donaldson, Telfer, Spittal could all do with more game time other than that, ,it'd not bother me if it was the Dev squad.
Sorry lads I disagree. It's neither the Diddy Cup nor the Fizzy Pop, it's The Irn Bru Cup, formerly the Challenge Cup when it wasn't sponsored. We're in it because we are a Championship team, that's how we qualify, like it or not. The sponsors have jacked up the competition trying to create extra interest & I enjoyed the Peterheid game. It's disrespectful to undermine the competition, disrespectful to the other teams in the competition & disrespectful to yourselves. Compete at the best of your ability in every competition you're in or you're doing yourself, and sport in general, an injustice. If you're in it, win it.
I would like to see our team along the lines of (not in strict formation) -
Zwick, Dillon, Durnan, Donaldson, Robson, Telfer, Spittal, both Vans, Murray, Obadeyi.
Rest - Bell, Willy, Dixon, Fraser, Tony, Cammy,
Injured or not 100% ready - Flood, Murdoch, Toshney.
Hope that doesn't sound like I'm contradicting myself seemingly not playing our 'best' XI.

smeDUm, got to take issue with what you've written, especially the parts I've emboldened.
The sponsors didn't bring in the NI and Welsh teams, nor did they introduce 'colt' teams. That was a Doncaster baby, two Trojan horses to set down precedents to be utilised at a future point. He wasn't trying to create extra interest.
Although it might appear disrespectable to other clubs, I fail to see a difference in opinion as indicating individuals being disrespectful to themselves, so I hardly feel, due to my disdain of the way Doncaster treats the majority of football fans, that I'm doing myself an injustice. I would feel that way if I showed any support at all for the tournament.
Our football authorities have an almost absolute monopoly on sport in general being done an injustice.
Only an opinion. 'Sport' is very poorly governed, and Scottish football is one of the worst in this respect.

Anybody wanting us to play first team players risking more needless injuries are fuckin insane
Really hope Murray plays though.....
