DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

Even this early in the season this game is a MUST WIN for a variety of reasons.

Flood and Telfer both out apparently so I'd go (assuming Andreu and Toshney are fit).....

.........................Bell......................
VDS.....Dillon......Edjenguele.....Robson
Obadeyi......Murdoch......Matty Smith
.......................Andreu...............
..Van Der Velden.......Murray....

Subs - Zwick,Donaldson,Spittal,Fraser,Cammy Smith,Durnan, Toshney

4-3-3 (kinda)

If Andreu doesn't make it I'd put Cammy Smith in his role and Brad Smith on the bench (So many Smith's).

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

Lose on saturday and the heat is well and truly on Ray and his players, we need a performance for 90 minutes full of hunger and desire .

Losing the next two games could be curtains for winning the league, win the next two and it's very much game on.....fine lines and all that

Hopefully there is a  huge reaction throughout the club and our bad run is put to bed.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

It'd be good to see how a change in formation works, but it's probably unlikely to happen.

Cannae see Matty Smith coming in when he hasn't been favoured to this point, not do I see Toshney dropping out the starting line up and Dixon being left out the squad.

But I like the plan, Tek!

Maybe try Dillon in midfield again, I seem to mind him hitting the bar against the Huns once when he played there.

.............Bell......................
VDS............Toshney......Edjenguele.....Robson
Andreu...............Dillon................Murdoch........Cammy Smith
.........Van Der Velden.......Murray.......

Subs - Zwick, Donaldson, Obadeyi, Coote, Dixon, Fraser, Spittal

It won't be that though.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

We need to win simple as that no ifs no buts. And an acceptable performance from the players.

Feel we will either win 3-0 or lose 1-2

Players going to either react well or badly.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

Assuming it is only Flood and Telfer out then I'd go with a fairly compact 4-4-2.  We need to win the battles first and the lack of genuine width in the squad is s problem so flood the middle, win the battles and get the ball into the front 2 then play off them with plenty support from midfield.

I'd also swap VDS and Toshney, VDS cannot play CH against Quitongo again.  TBH it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if either was replaced by Dillon.

                      Bell
VDS.   Toshney.   Edjenguele.   Robson
                    Murdoch
        Spittal.                  Fraser
                     C Smith
                   Andreu
                            VDV
Subs Zwick Dillon Dixon B Smith Murray Obadeyi M Smith

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

We got off with them passing up a golden chance in a dreadful first half, we upped it 2nd half and the ugly win was merited.

Winning ugly is a must to have a good season

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

the result was all that mattered today but Dillons own goal , holy phuck  Ive defended him in the past but that was just ridiculous.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

What a difference it makes having someone up top to bring the likes of Andreu into the game.   Nothing stuck when Murray was up, VDV goes up top the ball starts sticking up there.  He might not be a striker but he has to play there until we get an actual striker.  Obadeyi did well when he came on today also, looked completely fucked tho!

VDS far better at RB than CH, Durnan played pretty well for the majority too.

Was happy to see us go with just 1 holding CM aswell, we have to be more aggressive in attack and that will help.

Loads of moaning about us time wasting, I was actually happy to see us being a bit more professional about things.  Games about getting 3 points, anyway you can.  It's not pretty, I get that but we have to do all we can to win, every trick in the book should be utilised to ensure that happens.

Very poor once again. Still so many poor performars today.
Happy we got the 3 points but that papers over the cracks of another terrible performance.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

I'm obviously happy to have seen us win, but a 150 mile round trip to watch us waste time with a corner at home with 5 mins to go against Morton at home???  I must be mad!!!

I'd rather that than pumping over hit corners to nobody or straight into keepers hands and getting caught on the break.  We need to win games. We don't need to play well.

It wasn't great today, I know that, but it was far far better than the last 2 games in terms of attitude and commitment, that's what we need and once that's full on every week then we can work on the quality.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

With that length of time left and one goal differance not for me we shoulf have been trying to get another. The short corner was pish anyway so could easily have ended up a counter attack from them which led to an equaliser.
Imo that today wasnt much better than tueaday night.

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

Will take this result - imagine the reaction if we'd got beat.

Thin squad (quality wise) so just happy to get a result when the pressure was on

Re: DUFC v Morton - Saturday 24th September 3.00pm

Attitude from players was night and day from Tuesday.  Quality wise it wasn't much better I'll agree there.  That's where we are tho, there was a severe rot setting in and it's gonna take small steps to fix it, today was just that.

It's not going to be pretty for a while, but I'll take that and points any day over style and no points.

Agreed Bowers the short corners were not pretty to watch but the whole point was so we did not get caught on the quick break as we left everybody back. We simply had to win today.
