What's everyone's thoughts on the game on Saturday? I thought they were really poor in the League Cup game but I believe they have signed a few players since then? Tough game.
One of my favourite games versus them:
We pumped them all over the shop that day, it could have been about 8 or 9. Pity we wen't on to cock things up later that season and we had to go through that fecking play-off (deja-vu?).

Good shout that. We were outstanding that day. Best performance of that season.

They were very poor in the LC game and yes will have improved since, however we will be better too. I reckon we'll destroy them on Sat and kick on with a decent winning run.
Would imagine Murdoch, Bell and Smith will come in for Zwick, Telfer and Spittal. Only question is Robson or Dixon. Would be Robson for me.
Season starts Saturday and all that

Watching back those highlights from 1995/96 you wonder how the Hell we contrived to throw away the league to them and lost the next all important Tannadice fixture versus them when a draw would have been enough probably to seal the title. Typical Utd.
On to Saturday and I think we will be in for a tough afternoon.
They've had a mixed season thus far. Got hammered by ICT and of course lost to us in the Betfred. In the league they've lost the Fife Derby against Raith and narrowly lost to Hibs and Qots by a single goal respectively.Though they have done something we haven't this season by defeating Dumbarton (giving them 4 into the bargain),gubbing, Arbroath away and just last weekend giving Brechin 5 away from home. So they're an inconsistent side (much like us so far I suppose you could argue).I think in El Alagui and Nicky Clark they've made two decent striking acquisitions.
I think Ray will unfortunately opt for Dixon ahead of Robson (as the latter played in last nights Development match).
I'd like the team to be (fitness and injury dependant)......
Bell
Toshney
Van Der Struijk
Edjenguele
Robson
Murdoch
Flood
Van Der Velden
Smith
Obadeyi
Andreu
Subs -
Zwick
Dillon
Dixon
Spittal
Fraser
Telfer
Murray

I'd go with that except don't write off Dixon just yet, Saturday he was back after a lengthy lay-off. Robson has the makings no doubt but he didn't have the greatest of games last nite. I can't separate Obadeyi & Fraser but if I have to Fraser starts & Obadeyi comes on after an hour or so depending on the state of the game.

I think we will blow them away with our new team on saturday, really looking forward to a boozy day out .
In a strange way I'm not that bothered we're playing in a lower league, in fact I can't remember when I was so looking forward to games week-on-week, yes, even the controversial Irn Bru Challenge Cup. Whether I would be saying the same thing this time next year I don't know cos we do only want one season in the C'ship but right now trips to Dunfermline in the offing are far more appealing than hosting the likes of Motherwell in an unwinable competition, stale sh!te.
I should have added a lot of my optimism & enjoyment of this season is down to us having the managerial team of Ray McKinnon & Co.

I'd agree with this part wholeheartedly.
This year at least we are looking to win the league tournament we are in: most seasons it's an impossible task.
And I'm looking forward to the game, in a ground we've not visited for a few years.

Just like 95/96, very refreshing.

That was Jamie Dolan's debut.
He had a stormer, as did the whole team that day.

Mind folk moaning about the late Jamie's signing for us- but he was a decent player for us for a time.
Four of that Motherwell squad that beat us in the '91 Cup Final died very young.

Found it very nail-biting after the Pars got their goal, and I was only listening on the radio. What was the story with Dixon?

Dixon was booked for backchat at a penalty, then sent off for the first foul he'd been penalised for. I think.
That system didn't apply to Pars players, especially that wee guy who's on loan from Celtic.

Yes, what Pat said. After the ref awarded the Pars 3rd pen he booked Dixon, Bell and 2 others I think (Flood and Toshney?) for the brouhaha. It was OTT and unnecessary handing out the bookings at that time, maybe a wee bit of common sense after awarding a 3rd pen in 30mins that players are gonna get exasperated. Seen a lot worse after ref decisions not going players way and remonstrating while getting away with it.
The second booking was a foul, IMO, but also some of the Pars players done a lot worse and escaped bookings, and even the ref pulling them up for the foul. Inconsistent.

Ended up unable to go today so no idea how we played, sounds like it turned out a difficult game. Big thing I'd take from it is we conceded and then showed fighting spirit to increase our lead, even with 10 men, rather than get nervy and cave like so often in recent times.
