saw col donaldson mentioned earlier as our worst ever defender, got me thinking about the worst i've seen.
Julian Alsford for me, just fucking hopeless.

Alsford definitely, Donaldsons 10minutes yesterday ran him close right enough.

Was at Mihadjuks debut at St. Mirren where he got the roasting of a lifetime off of Stevie fucking Robb and Houstie subbed him off after about 25 minutes even though our only other fit defender on the bench was Ross Smith (who was far better despite being a kid).
But in his defence he was a CH and was played at RB due to injuries and it was his first game in months blah blah blah.
Was at the game also when Alsford got subbed by Wee Tommy in the first half and he was indeed an absolute dud.Massively out of his depth. Done everything wrong and I mean EVERYTHING.
But he only played 1 and a half games for us, same as Mihadjuks.
For a defender who has played as many games for us and played so consistently bad for us I would unfortunately have to say Donaldson has took the crown for me (that was previously held by John McQuillan) of our 'Worst Ever Defender'.
Reads the game poorly, can't head, can't tackle, terrible decision making, has no heart for the fight.
I naively thought maybe the Championship would be good for him. Help him find his feet at Utd, playing at an inferior level. I was wrong. He's worse if anything.
To think he was given a trial at Man Utd as well. Incredible.
As he's still a current player I don't expect anyone to agree with me btw. And for what it's worth I still hope that he can somehow prove me wrong.

Hope he'll never be given the chance to prove you wrong.

Don't like slating current players, but I agree with your criteria that they have to play a good few to be considered a player.
Donaldson and Durnan are definitely our worst 2 ever though unfortunately.
I've went through the whole 'give them a chance' and 'next to a solid no nonsense ch' chat, but they have actually both got worse with time.
They should both go and get a clean break as I can't see it working here now.

The atmosphere at game changed when we saw Dillon coming on ...........it seemed to get sooked right out when Donaldson came and a collective hold of breath.
Absolute bombscare of a player and never going to be or be allowed to be a better player at Tannadice, got to move on as no future here....we don't want him around, simples.
Good luck to him elsewhere.......soon hopefully

Donaldson knows the fans think he's complete pish and its definitely affecting his game I'm afraid.
Glad to see him out the team and hopefully he'll learn from the new guys

John McQuillan is up there, was at a game at rugby park where it was 89 minutes of total boredom, two teams without a clue how to score a goal, then he sliced a clearance into his own net. Brutal

Rab "Shenanigans" Shannon has to be up there!

I'd say Gary McGinnis - although he played a blinder when he returned to Tannadice playing for St Johnstone !

Some fine suggestions there, and I'm pleased Slateford Arab's mentioned Shannon.
However, another candidate has to be Darren Patterson, who was capped while a Tannadice and scored a face saving equaliser in the cup v Clydebank (at Stirling). I thought he and his fellow internationalist Iain Jenkins were dire.

Patterson was rank rotten, I seem to remember him being sent of against Dundee at Tanndice after a dreadful performance.

They were both truly awful.
Both played for Northern Ireland too, unbelievable.
Just shows how far they've came along as a footballing nation.
I'd have to put Stuart Duff up there. I would maybe give him the benefit of doubt though as he was played out of position and looked better when playing in midfield.

Timothy van der Meulen.

Funnily enough I seen him just on Friday there lol.
He held a door open for me and Mrs Tek as we were entering a cafe and he was exiting.
Was tempted to ask him how Craig Brewster was getting on.

A definite contender.
Was at a game he played away at Hamilton and he genuinely couldn't pass a ball ten yards.
Shelling it out the park constantly when under zero pressure.
Abysmal player.

Did Scott Patterson ever play a game for us?
He was on the sick for about a year.
I think we might have got a half out of him

Alsford's 45 minutes vs Aberdeen at Tannadice is the worst I've seen but Donaldson's 10 minute cameo on Saturday runs it close.

Never kean to slate a player or join in on these types of topics but its been a long time since I've recognised a player as definitely not a United player as much as Col Donaldson. His decisions are bad in all aspects of play and his reaction and body language after the fuckups defines my concerns.
Get him tae fuck.
The clearout isn't a clearout when we're left with the pretenders wether 11 or 1. Feel for RMcK as he's done some job so far in replacements given the shackles on him doing that.
Sure he wants to punt those who are bad that we are left with, with an attitude the opposite of what we need but we will be left with some and they might be fixable. Struggle to believe CD will be fixed.
