So yet another game approaches and not only are we no further forward as regards reinforcements in defence but we are actually a body down.
Ayr will see us as a scalp and I'm pretty sure will be right up for it. Particularly as their Manager will feel he has a wee point to prove perhaps.
Team for me should be.
Bell
Spittal
Dillon
Durnan
Robson
Fraser
Murdoch
Flood
Smith
VDV
Obadeyi
Subs -
Zwick
Donaldson
Murray
Telfer
Johnson
Matty Smith

Our biggest problem is not scoring.
I'd like to see 2 up front against a shitey ayr team at home.
Hit them hard in the pus from kick off as well

I've heard there's a signing tomorrow, just need to wait and see

Feeling pretty pessimistic about this to be honest.
They've got McCall and Harkins, no doubt eager to rub salt in the wounds and no doubt a bunch of journeymen who'll be organised and difficult to break down. Thank fuck I'm on the drink after this...

The day I worry about Gary Harkins is the day I stop going to Tannadice.

1-0 United, Murray follows in with a header from a saved VDV penalty.
Both players argued over taking the penalty too.
Offline
2-0, Robson follows in after good play down the right.
Wave after wave of United attacks. Should be four up.
Offline
As easy a half as we'll get all season, can't think of one Ayr attack or save from Bell.
Should be four up with better decision making and finishing.
Dillon and Donaldson safe as houses. (Can't believe I've just typed that).
Only downside is Flood poor tackle for a yellow card.
Easy street, need an early goal second half and it'll be four or five.
Offline
3-0, Flood taps in after good work down the left from Obadeyi.
United been poor this second half, lazy.
Dillon and Donaldson both had a brain fart.
Offline
First win and clean sheet in the Championship.
Happy days.

Poor second half but a wins a win.

Poor second half, and central defence still shocking. Ayr were very poor, yet dominated midfield second period. I felt Ray left it too late to bring on width, but Tope made a difference.
Three points though, albeit against poor opposition, so a step up from Dumbarton.

Well done the players and we'll done ST.
He's shown leadership to reduce our budget to a championship level whilst improving the team.

Agree with tangy much better performance from Thompson after his shocker last week

Tell you what Andy, FGH was MotM by the length of Tannadice Street. He totally ran the show and was everything we are not in midfield. Composure, killer passes, shooting etc - could have scored in the first half, but for a good save fae Bell and he'll be kicking himself he did not score at the death. I would have had him in the summer, but of course our support would never allow it.

How did Murdoch get away with his bit of Kung Foo at start of 2nd half ?
About halved the guy 😉

First half was decent against what looked like a very poor team.... 2nd half, Fukin awful.

Agree about Harkins being the best in the pitch, I can admire a good opposition player who stands out.
We got a much needed win and 3-0 was flattering as fuck but will have to seriously improve as a team, turning up for 45mins is no good.

Harkins barely touched the ball in the first hour, in the last half hour he dominated their play and had some shots at goal, one, the last kick of the ball, went very close to scoring.
They were a terrible side and we made them look half decent due to our shocking second half performance.

Going through some of the comments is like we got beat 3-0.
If your looking for perfection then tell me what team plays like that for the whole game consistently and I'll go follow them instead.
We're in for a long season and if we win 3-0 every week and play shite in parts then I'm fine with that.
Maybe we can benefit by winning like this and have things to work on in training for things that didn't go right in the previous game.
It can't be healthy being so negative about things all the time. Feels like your damned if you do and your damned if you don't.
Sometimes you have to stop and smell the flowers once in a while, said a former Yugoslavian many years ago.

But if we only turn up for 45 mins against the better teams it's highly likely we'll lose those games.
Also I fully accept its going to be a very tough league and we won't play well every game.
Next week is going to be a big test for us.
