What a great result and performance that was.
But as we know, one match does not make a season.
Either does that first home game when it was meltdown central as well. So let's try and use this positivity and run with it for a wee while.
Still plenty to do off the park and I'm sure Ray is still trying to do business.

QOTS, Morton, Alloa, Rangers, Utd and prob Hearts, Sheep, Celtic thru. All depends on the draw, but there's certainly winnable games there.
Terrific result tonight and by the sounds of it good performance too.

Great result tonight, men of the match for me tonight were Durnan smith and flood, all stood out massively and esp Durnan who took that defence by the scruff of the neck and marshalled them well!

True Sieb.
This season might be all about not getting carried away with the good bits or over panicking about the bad bits.
Lets hope we can add a couple of players in the positions we all know we need, continue to improve, get a solid support behind the team and leave Hibs to feel the pressure.

Heard others put Tope or Fraser the MOTM.

Scott Fraser man of the match, tremendous performance and at the heart of everything good tonight

Very refreshing to hear Leedsy. He's had a bad time up till now and confidence was obviously shattered. This might help.
Unusual to see so many different opinions on a MOTM. Rare and got to be a good thing especially when one player hit a hat trick others are argued to have done better for the team. Like that shit.

The first half tonight was the best I've seen from us in 18 months. Smith and Fraser outstanding. Second half we were organised, calm and resolute under pressure. Durnan (yes) was excellent. Attacked everything and marshalled others around him. Robson played well too.
Oh and QOS pumped Hibs tonight which kind of puts Saturday's result into a bit of perspective.
Onwards and upwards.

My take on it:
Blew them away simple as that but when we did concede we never panicked and seen the game out really well.
Bell - spectator for the most part but looked good apart from taking an age kicking at one point.
Toshney- steady enough bit harsh to give a pen away before his hammy went!
Robson- so impressed in the lad looks like an outstanding prospect and was so composed 👏
Durnan - did what he was there to do, defend and did it well tonight
Donaldson- one of his better performances but still to busy wrestling rather than defending the ball.
Willo - superb he's key to us this season just makes us tick
Murdoch - as has been said is Paton but looks decent on the ball too. Power of work
Spittal- best performance from him for a long time hopefully he can kick on now!
Smith - exceptional in the first half touch was class as were his finishing.
Tope - powerhouse up top. Caused them problems all night but would be better if he went round players rather than steamroller over the top.
Fraser - class tonight, the tricks came off for him and was unplayable at points. Hopefully the penny has dropped and he can be a star for us this season!
Subs
Dillon - did well and was solid enough
Murray - ran about
Telfer - a few good touches in his 10mins or so

Hard to pick a motm, assume Smith got the official one but personally Robson and Fraser over the piece for me.
Obadeyi was excellent first half, as was Smith.
All good tho, Spittal, Durnan, Flood all 8/10 for me.

I can see why there are various MotM contenders and I concur with LaO as I said exactly what he did, but in my car up the road, ie that was more like what we used to see over 18 months ago.
The moans about the team selection pre game were there for all to hear. Tope did really well as the lone striker and when he learns when to pass and when to pull the trigger he'll be massive for us.
Really pleased for Mark Durnan. Thistle are pretty big, apart from their #19 and he was a genuine Stopper tonight for us.
Truth is if it was not for McLean giving them such a soft penalty, that would have been a complete stroll.
Pity McInnes chose to attend!!!

Great to read a summary like this for a muckle change in recent-ish times!
Fair chuckled when you got to Murray as it didn't matter and characteristic.
Who the fuck knows what his upper limit is on progression is though.
Can't remember seeing such a genuine raw ambition and effort though.
Will be delighted if it pays off for him. So rare.

Absolutely delighted with that result and performance tonight. The fast flowing attacking football in that first 30 minutes was a joy to watch.

Outstanding first half some great performances.
Think that was Frasers best game for us lastnight.
Smith Robson Flood Durnan stand outs.
Tope takes far too many touches for mw when theres an easy pass on.
Corners from Smith a massive improvement.
Great support in again.

Is that the quickest ever Dundee United hat-trick btw?
Cannae think of another.
Davie Dodds March 7th 1981 17 minutes Scottish cup v Motherwell
Couldn't swear it's the quickest but you'd think it'd be there or thereabouts
