Re: John Rankin - Statement

Wish him all the best, great pro but sadly probably the right thing to do! He personally probably knows he needs a fresh start

Re: John Rankin - Statement

First Utd-related statement that's not been a minter. Good luck Ranks. See you in a few years on the ex-Utd player managerial merry-go-round. Class act.

Too much commotion

Re: John Rankin - Statement

Just watched yesterdays Arabzone press conference.

Question to Rankin.

'What positives can you take from your 5 years at Dundee United'?

Answer - 'The privilege of playing for this club. It's a huge huge club.I've loved every minute here'.

Fucking love that attitude. He'll always be welcomed back to Tannadice.

Question to Bodul

'What positives can you take from your time at Dundee United'?

Answer - 'The privilege of being able to buy top clobber with my overblown wages and being 'kin magic at keepy ups on Instagram'.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Re: John Rankin - Statement

In all honesty what did he actually contribute as a player.  Nice guy and that but imo he's no loss.

100% agree I keep hearing people say he gave 100% but why praise a player for giving his all? It's his fkn job to try his best no player should be praised for trying players should be praised for having good or great games

It's in  the same vein as thanking a taxi driver and giving him a tip. A gesture of appreciation.

What a miserable bunch some of you lot are!

Re: John Rankin - Statement

A gesture of appreciation is fine but making him out to be something he's not is wrong imo.

I have seen no evidence of that. Can you enlighten me?

In all honesty, I thought the main reasons folk wanted him to stay was because
1 - he was one of very few who looked like they actually cared
2 - he was a character in the dressing room
He may have done a job in the championship but a fresh start was needed by both parties I think.

On another note, I think we've recruited in that area really well. Murdo looks a player and Willo's still same old Willo. Early signs are really promising.
