ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

Tomorrow we visit the Highlands once again to take on Caley with them for the first time ever the 'big team' between the two sides. This early into the season though I don't see their Premiership status as much of an advantage for them (if at all).

They never had a great season themselves last term and are in a bit of a transistional period for their club as they gamble on long-term servant Richie Foran making a success of Management.

We can win this game... if we take it to them. I'd go with.

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

A win here would put us in a very good position, despite dropping a point at Arbroath so I think we'll go for it.

Think it'll be close to what Mario and TEK have said:

.......................Bell..................
Toshney..Souttar..Durnan..Dixon
...........Murdoch..Flood.........
........Smith....Fraser....Obadeyi
.....................Murray...........

Think Souttar will come in for Dillon and don't think VDM will start yet.

Personally would like to see Robson for Dixon but can't see it.

4-5-1

Dillon drops out as was rotten on Tuesday.
Replaced with Donaldson who's probably our best centre half IMO.
Fraser has a knock so wouldnt risk him.
VDV in behind Murray.

Half Time -

ICT 1 Utd 0

Sounds like the type of goal that we've conceded a million times.

Absolutely, another set piece.

But,

An early second half goal for us, and it used to be the other way.

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

United victory on penalties, four out of four from the spot and Bell saved two to give a 4-1 victory on spot kicks for the bonus point after a 1-1 draw.

Good result.

Great result! Puts us in pole position to qualify, well done the Ray seems like his team talk worked at half time, when is the last time we could have said that??

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

We're top of the league on 7 points.

A win against Dunfermline next Saturday will see us progress as Group Winners.

Should be enough but don't think that's guaranteed mate,  if Dunfermline take a point or more off ICT it will be guaranteed but if ICT win their last two it'll come down to goal difference if we beat the Pars.

Can't see ICT racking up goals but they have Arbroath at home last game.

Hope Dunfermline get a draw on Tuesday then it'll be a straight shoot between us next Sunday.

BT considering televising our game v the Pars.  Dunno if that will mean a KO alteration at this late stage to earlier?

Ray said in interview we are actively seeking another striker, also said vdv is quality and emphasised that he ain't even fully fit yet.

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

Slightly off topic but where is Justin Johnson?

Excellent all pre-season and looked very good v Arbroath. Bombed out the last two squads since and I noticed was up tweeting in the early hours of this morning about being in Manchester.

What gives?

Just watched the video. JJ along with Matty Smith, Ally Coote, Cammy Ballantyne come on as subbies at ht, following a 1st half with a very young team ( and turn the game in our favour).

The game against Sheffield Utd however on the 19th we start with a more experienced team (and play very well) but JJ clearly doesn't play. This was on the 19th though so my guess is JJ was in the squad for the cowdenbeath game later that day but is left out (the 19th man so to speak). Seemingly he posted a pissed off sounding tweet at that time but took it down. I guess the boys who played Formartine didn't get in the squad today.

He's really exciting but is also immature with a lot to learn. However, he should be in the squad at least.

Out of interest, how was Spittal today? He's getting picked ahead of jj and really need to start delivering.

Too much commotion

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

Not a bad start to the season 3 wins in effect. Some positives and some of the same problems.  Think the real tests start next week though, proper cup tie next week, win and at worst finish 2nd which on ten points will prob still qualify, lose and go out.  Also last chance to get the last couple of names in the league starting 11 sorted out.

Re: ICT v Utd - Saturday 23rd July (3pm)

Wasn't at the game, but had a couple of phone conversations with some that were.  Many pleasing comments, albeit there are still a couple of concerns.  Ken what, the competitive nature of the new League Cup format, might just be doing us a favour in readying us for the League, which is Priority #1.  Hopefully we can get in another couple before the end of the windie.
