Sadly passed away today.
RIP to a fine broadcaster, journalist and of course big Dundee United fan.
For someone who has lived all his life out West it's no exaggeration to say for me growing up he really was the 'voice of Dundee' (the city of Dundee).
A sad loss.

I did three days work experience at Radio Tay when I was younger and Dick was there at the time. He was sound as a pound. He didn'y rate Luggy as manager at the time thats for sure. Sad news. He really was the voice of Dundee.

RIP Dick, City of Dundee legend.

Sorry to hear this news: went and looked out one of my old autograph books, as I was sure Dick Donnelly was a signature in an East Fife side.
There he is, top right, in his last season with the Methil side. I'd thought he played in the same team as Henry McLeish, but McLeish signed on next season, both for East Fife and in my book.
Dundonians would have been more familiar with Dick than us out of towners, but he was always well respected in the media, a traditional, fair minded sports person.

Really nice man and the voice of football when I was growing up listening to United away games on the radio.
I worked with him a couple of times at Radio Tay during their Cash for Kids auction and he was a gentleman. One of those Radio Tay auctions was the infamous Brewster's last stand at Falkirk, 5-1 defeat and think it was also Lee Wilkie's debut, Noel Hunt sent off and protests outside Tannadice I'm sure.
Me and Dick were going mental back in the studio, BNB's phoning up pledging £20 for every goal United conceded, hard to take and we had two or three two pints in the Snug after that shift.
And who can forget Dick's Donkey, the worst tipster I ever followed, ha ha.
Will be missed.

Similiar to TEK, I grew up in Weegieland and spent many many hours listening to radio waiting to hear news from Tannadice from this guy, he had the perfect mix of being calm and professional while still having a passion for the game.

I always remember listening to the TayFM and AM sports desks at 12.30 lunchtime when I was at school and he'd usually do It.
RIP Fella.
