Daft friendly to have so close to Friday imo.
Could have done without a pumping before then.
The trialists have all been a waste of time by the looks of it.
Ward and Ploj sent packing and all three of today's seemingly pish.
Who recommends us these players and why do we never seem to scout real gems from afar anymore?

Supposedly absolutely dreadful today

3 foreign trialists according to the fishul.
Any info on any of them? Positions etc?
Id also not read too much into the result - 19 outfield players used including 4 trialists who dont know teammates etc
I guess zubar is one of them - no idea on the others.

RM is playing about with potential within and outwith the squad as he sees fit with an emphasis on checking oot the talent. This is why we had a closed doors match rather than in front of paying fans.
Thank fuck on the result but dont think we should read into the result much.
He will be thinking the same as most of us. Dodged a bad signing or 2/3 and kens the potential of squad.
Dont judge yet, let him do what he can on the budget he has.

Don't think anyone's judging Mckinnon on pre-season kick abouts Mr Phobia.
The real judgement of his team will start on Friday night.
I'm just a bit concerned that every trialist we are recommended seems to be a dud.
Have had 7 play now over the four games and all deemed not good enough.
I am questioning our scouting network and contacts within the game rather than Mckinnon's eye for a player.
Mind Levein signed Swanson fae Berwick, Gomis fae Cowdenbeath and Prince from a college team in Manchester.
He seemed to have eyes and ears everywhere.

Do we actually need a CB for this season? I honestly think souttar will stroll the championship and Donaldson is good enough, yes raw but defo has the ability for that league!

Ken what you mean. Hard though to see a player's full potential and gauge it on this time of year, sharpness and fitness versus the same against him.
Just glad he's not throwing contracts about without a sure feeling.
Even if it's late and causing a panic to all of us including him.

Yeah he has to know these guys are definitely gonna improve us.
Heard with Ploj he actually thought the boy was quite a tidy player and said if he was still at Raith he would have offered him something. But he wants a better standard for Utd.

I don't know what other people think but I'd personally treat this League Cup group like an extended set of pre-season games. If we win great but if we don't its no biggie. We should still be looking to experiment a bit and have sone trialists in over the next 2-3 weeks. What matters is being ready for QotS.

Have to disagree mate, its a cup competition I want to win and I would bang that into the players heads from start we must show a competitive streak from first whistle on Friday night I want to win this cup starting by a good dominant win this Friday, if we treated it like a pre season game it's possible some players might not give 100% which is unacceptable

Agree with this, cup games should mean something. Fact is tho that this tournament is being treated as pre-season by most of the clubs.
Inevitable that there'll be an element of pre-season to a competition that starts so early.
More so for us as Ray is still in the early stages of sorting out best system, first picks etc.
Am sure Ray will treat the Betfred with full respect and want to win but at the same time he's still got a lot to sort out.

It is inevitable, the competitions been set up to allow that to happen IMO. It'll maybe come to life at the last 16 stage, hopefully we're there.
Just think it's a pity that most clubs only have 2 chances to win a (real) trophy every year and 1 of those competitions has been bumped down the importance ratings.

Opportunity for silverware is increased but so is the managers need to get signings right.
Totally get all the thinking posted above.
Think it will take as long as it takes to put a good squad together and hope the delay doesn't do us bad.
Confidence is key here. Dont want to hear how good a squad we have from players again though, old squad or new. Just want RM to take time, choose right and do his stuff.
As long as the squad is complete by the start of the league start I can deal with what happens in between. Ish!
