Re: New players

Personally would rather keep (and play) Souttar rather than buy Toshney, but if the overall money's working better to allow Ray to sign the others he wants then so be it.

It's a shame that we're being forced into selling boys now before half the support even know what they look like, never mind how they play.

Re: New players

We'd be silly to turn that sort of money down for a boy who's played 1 and half games

Very simplistic way of looking at things IMO.  However the situation the club finds itself in due to so many poor decisions being made may force another poor decision to be made and probably means your right.

It's a yes from me. Controls the midfield and dictates the game far better than Rankin ever could. Loves a tackle and battle ana, would do well in the championship.

Re: New players

When a player leaves us it's for one of two reasons
A he's not good enough

Or

B he's too good for us

A .....why would we want anyone back like this and
B .....clearly able to return because he's no longer as good as was when left and on a downwards spiral......return....no thanks.

If any doubt on this former players route....just think Gavin Gunning for starters and a host of others.

Willo would be a great signing, ran the show against us last season.

Not being good enough to play for a team who have tried to keep their squad together for several seasons in order to give some sort of domestic challenge in the premiership and not being good enough for a Championship club who plummeted out the premiership without so much as a fight are entirely different things IMO.

He would do well here, even if he's not a good as he once was.

Re: New players

Flood is not the first and he won't be the last to leave us for more money.  When he left us for the Sheep in those circumstances, he pissed me off no end.  But, IF he is freed and IF Raymondo wants him and IF he wants to come to us within our wage structure, I would welcome him with open arms, as he would have the ability to control and dominate a midfield and set a high tempo for us to play at.  I'd even go as far to make him Playing Captain!

Re: New players

Mckinnon at Brechin v dons game the day - presumably keeping tabs on smith?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: New players

Will do well in Scottish Championship but will be interesting to see what length of contract he's offered - wouldn't want him too long term.

Re: New players

Stephane Zubar - 6ft1, 29 year old, hugely experienced Centre Half. Released by Bournemouth. Most recently at York (season before last and played start of last season but suffered cruciate).

Alen Ploj - looking at the video, seems to be more about linking play than playing as an out and out striker.

Joe Ward - 19 year old attacking midfielder from West Brom.

Wouldn't look too much into the videos, Bodul looked like a class player in his and look how shite he was.

Re: New players

York fan on twitter says Zubar has 'bags of pace' but 'no left foot' lol.

Hopefully the cruciate injury hasn't affected his pace to much

Re: New players

Kilmarnock attacker Tope Obadeyi is likely to be signed in the next day or two.

McKinnon has confirmed his interest and talks with the former England youth international are at an advanced stage.

Re: New players

Obadeyi has got bags of pace and power.  Played as a striker he could cause teams lots of problems. Looks very raw though ie poor decision making.

Too much commotion

I know Toshney and his family fairly well. I know in recent years he hasn't been playing at the standard he should be due to problems in personal life and a bad time with injuries. I think the former being more of an issue than the latter. He'll be a good player for us I'm sure. So long as we're not paying over the odds I think it is a very good signing.

Re: New players

I dont think we should be paying the rumoured £75-100k for any player at the moment.
