Stoke City bid turned down

For Harry Souttar.

Expected to come back with a second bid though.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Do you know what the amount was?

Would expect a half decent bid to be accepted or were they just taking the pish?

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Can just imagine ST thinking he's got a gem and let it develop so Stoke can gtf.

Then ten seconds later getting a feeling of brotherly deja vu.

It was John that knocked that one back and I'm actually amazed ST didn't accept any offer.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

We will sell but for sake of his own career he should stay with us another 3 years and get over 100 first team games under his belt before thinking of going to England because if he goes just now he will just play reserve football for years and learn fuck all

Another bid for Harry turned down.  £350K apparently.

We? We? Patio extensions, hair implants, Sun loungers, spin doctors will be taken care of before "We" see a bean of it.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Decent money for an untried 17 year old centre half who lets face it will already have had his head turned by the old man and his Billy Big Baws bruvver of his that United's not where to be. Sell on our terms and get in a centre half who's gonna do the business for us next year in that league.
Forget potential...he's never a long term bet with us!
The £350k.....sure Steven can spend what's left after Jackie et al get their cut !

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Apparently Stoke are back in for him.

500k plus add-on's and I reckon Utd will accept their bid.

Aye agree, we'll take that for him if offered.

No sure what to think about this, the lad looks like he could be a good player, but I suppose it might actually free up some funds to sign a couple of experienced CHs FFS!

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Think for where we are as a club right now (in deep shit) it'd would definitely be advantageous to sell him in this window if we get a decent enough bid.

Bitter sweet though to see yet another good prospect go before we've even really been introduced to them so to speak.

I guess that's the way of things nowadays though for a club of our size, sadly.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Short term gain should be prioritised IMO. Sell Harry for a decent fee and use the cash to bring in a decent centre half to maximise our promotion prospects. No way are we going up with our current CHs!

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

No for me. He's maybe young & raw but McKinnon's had weeks and weeks to address a clear as day issue we have and has been unable to do so. Even Hartley at the fun hasn't been able to sign a decent centre half. Its telling me there's not much quality knocking around within our price range. I'd rather we kept Souttar because he could end up being better than what we currently have with game time.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

If the add ons are them taking Durnan and Donaldson aswell then go for it.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

We should be asking them to include a loan of an experienced CH as part of the deal. Dhingy the add ons - cash and a player please

Thing is, would an experienced CH who is part of the Stoke set-up want to come and play in our league?

Unlikely - but if we have any leverage I would try and use it here. We don't seem to be able to attract anyone else the traditional route - lets force someone!!

Btw, most of this is just joking I doubt we'll get anyone from them for the reasons you mentioned.
Maybe if we were SPL - definitely no now we are championship

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

We could hang on to him and end up getting fuck all - and let's be honest he'll be going nowhere near their first team so if Ray was planning to use him then might get a loan back for the rest of the season?

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

According to the paper, he'll be off shortly.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

I ken he's raw as fuck and very young but he's still better than Durnan, Donaldson and Dillon for me.

Hopefully if (or when by the sounds of it) we'll have at least one experienced centre half signed up.

I know of one very experienced centre half we were close to getting pre-season but there was an issue with costs of relocation and signing on fee, maybe this cash will allow us to go back in for him.

Re: Stoke City bid turned down

Agree with Andy's 1st point. Left wondering if this is another disaster in the making. We've had this before. A quick buck, and you're left wondering if this might be another disaster in the making.
