Re: New players

Loved the interviews with Bell, Murdoch and the Boss on the Zone.  I was really angry at the end of last season, stopped going and vowed to pay and go this season; but I'm doing a U Turn and my season ticket will be bought before next week ends.

Happy with this signing too. The Goalie needs to be a good signing. Well thought of in most circles and over his shoulder injury. Hibs mates thought he was good in the season he was up against them.
Could do worse or take more of a chance on a keeper.

Re: New players

buzzing with Cammy Bell, think he'll be a cracking signing. Stewart Murdoch we dont know that much about but Ray brought him here so i'll be supporting him.

Re: New players

Still hearing rumours that Willo is coming.

Also still hearing Toshney rumours,Cammy Smith,Denny Johnstone and the Danish striker fae Birmingham.

Have also been told there is another foreign striker flying in on trial on Sunday (not the Dane, another guy).

The next fortnight should see a glut of signings.

Re: New players

Denny Johnstone is the striker from Birmingham isn'nt he?

Too much commotion

Re: New players

Second bid for Lewis toshney has been rejected, toshney and Ray got on really really well and I would say this deal will happen, the player wants to come so more than likely the deal will happen

Re: New players

Why are we bidding for players when we're in financial shite?

There's a rumour we wanted a Danish guy from Birmingham too.

WeeDude83 posted his name on another thread.

Seems odd.  Without taking this thread way O/T there seems to have been very little attempt to cut costs at Tannadice out with the playing budget, in fact it looks like the saving from the Chairmans wage has been spent elsewhere already.  Now we're bidding for players too, I suppose if Ray thinks this is best use of his budget then fair enough.  It just looks more and more like its up to the fans with the raised prices to bring in more cash while the club do very little to cut costs.

Guess it depends on how much we're bidding.

If it's £5k or £10k for instance it's not gonnae make much difference to the playing budget.

Personally I'd rather they didn't spend money on fees but then again I haven't been tasked with getting us promoted...which is probably a good thing

Ray is after players he is sure are good signings. The lad we are bidding for was close to him and Raith's fan's palyer of the year so he's most likely sure as fuck its no gamble. Anything bid will be minimal and he's already sold DUFC to the lads that he pinched fae Rovers as back room staff.

You could assume that the fact Raith Rovers have made it public to their fans on their website in the same way they did when they stated they had knocked us back for Ray that they know the lad is keen on us and they will accept the next cheeky bid.

He could spend more than the wee transfer fee on a potentially good player's  bigger wages and other less well known to him could turn out to be a failed gamble.

He doesn't have money to gamble. He must be certain that whatever the bid and wage offered combine to be a wise offer for a player he has confidence in.

Re: New players

Every players a gamble Mr Phobia, particulary one who a couple of years ago nearly retired through recurring injury.

If we are only bidding 5 or 10k or similiar for the lad fair enough. But we simply can't be frittering away any more money than that imo. There's no need to either. There are hundreds of players out there free of charge.

Fair enough TEK, didnae ken about the injury caper bud, but I think that's Ray's thinking or idea on managing the limited budget. Caught up on all the Arabzone interviews tonight. He seems to be reasonably confident of signing 4 or 5 players before looking over the same number of trialists over the next wee while.

Feel nervous for him though. Dont think the budget is as good as he'd like and huge pressure on him getting the right players in.

I watched the interviews with Grant Johnson, Darren Taylor and Laurie Ellis and I have to say these guys do come across very well.  It appears they have an excellent eye for detail and all just seem really motivated.  Such a refreshing change from Jackie and Mixu.  Not saying we are going to win the league easily, but the more I hear from these guys the more confident I am about how they will handle the team.

I was at the q and a with mixu when he took over. He talked a very good game and I'd say 99% of folk there came out feeling very positive about what lay ahead. Well, we all know what happened.  All fine and well saying the right things but its results on the park that matter and folk may be able to talk the talk but walking the walk is entirely different.  Let's hope ray and his backroom staff can do the latter.

Yes I completely agree.  I'm just saying that these guys seem a bit more, how can I put it, organised and thoughtful than Mixu who struck me as somebody who intimated (to me anyway) his main skill was motivation and organisation, both of which he turned out to be crap at.  McKinnon and his team just strike me as having much more about them.

But yes, ultimately the results are the only thing that matters.

Fuck that.

Re: New players

I don't think we'll pay that, however he is a excellent player and that league and can also play various positions so I can see why McKinnon is so desperate to get him! Think souttar will be away soon

Re: New players

I'd be disappointed if big Harry goes after just two games.

Looked very assured I thought and more of a 'defender' first and foremost than his brother.

I think if the bid reaches say 450k we'll deal though.
